Day one of the roof refurbish.. ive been collecting forgotton last minute bolts etc, changed cordless drill that decided to pack in yesterday just when we needed it , got an exchange as was only bought in february, but i could have done without th time wasted to get the replacement ...
Mishap 2, the people delivering the wood decided to call halfway through the day, to say the suppliers were behind with our delivery due to the treatment processing or some c**p, and now it wouldnt be with us till bl**dy wednesday!, after me throwing a wobbly, they offered some more expensive wood that they had in stock, for no extra charge, and delivered it within
the hour! the power of an angry woman knows no bounds..lol
And last but not least, EE network in our area is zilch since friday, ive had to ring all the suppliers on the landline to let them know we have no mobile access, as id given them all my mobile to ring with any problems, and when the delivery was nearly here, so we could let the driver know how to find us, as we are pretty hidden away..
thats 3 hiccups, so i think thats enough!! we need to get caught up, no more mshaps hopefully!

Oh crappy dayyyyyyyyyy!!!!
Well the week of the roof refurb just get crappier!
None stop heavy rain/showers, the damn old sheeting has taken nearly 5 days to remove due to countless rusty nails and layers of tar or some such bodging repair material..and the difficult access . The roof sheeting we bought was delivered , one broken skylight, and two missing flashing pieces, which have now been delivered.. the lift we hired sprung an oil leak on the hydraulics last night, so i was up at 6 calling the plant hire company, who in their favour had someone out, and machine repaired for 8.30am this morning..
Weve rallied round for extra help, but if that roof is on before we go back to work monday it will be a miracle:(current official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

Today is a bit better for us, the rain has held off up to now..:)
Overpaid £200- so the new balance is now £235,200 :j
And good news, we are now a registered smallholding with our own CPH number which arrived today,so we are all set to get the sheep in spring:
We have a tough few months to rebuild savings after this roofing project, which has ended up costing more than planned, so super budgeting from now until xmas, i want to be able to continue overpaying, and rebuilding savings..current official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

I don't venture on to the MFW board very often as I'm way off being in that position with still quite a bit of debt to repay, but I wanted to read a diary to remind me of where I'm aiming for and yours stuck out. I've read the whole thread and I have to say wow you're amazing with what you've achieved and am so pleased you're loving your forever home.
Your family are obviously hard workers and it's paying off, you're so driven but as you mention even the smallest payment makes a difference.
Thank you for sharing your story, we dreamt of living in the countryside but to be honest we like our house and we're 5 mins from the sea on one side and 5 mins from the hills and countryside on the other so I can dip in and out whenever I want and regularly run in the hills to enjoy the tranquillity.
I'm off to make a small overpayment to one of my debts and I'll check in regularly to remind myself of my goal.
Thanks H x0 -
What a lovely message hugglemonster, and thanks for dropping by.:)
glad you enjoyed our story so far, and good luck with your quest for debt freedom, you will get there, keep faith in yourself, stay focussed, and keep making those payment however small, they DO add up as i can testify!:T
We are in super saving mode for August, as looks like the roof will continue now at the end of August, we re only half way, and no more time off till then.. so more expense rehiring roof ladders, and boom lift.. im on with meal planning, i want the spare money after paying bills in Augusts salaries to cover all remaining roofing costs, and hopefully at least one decent mortgage overpayment.
We will keep plodding on, money saving, lots of overtime for poor hard working hubby.. it will be worth it!:)current official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

Not a lot to report, tommorow will be mortgage payment day, interest will be added, and i am planning my usual rounding down so oo's on the end of the balance , makes me feel better:rotfl:
Im determined to be super frugal this coming month, to cover expences for the remaining roofing work. I will be meal planning, and generally watching every penny, only buying what we really need , which hopefully will just be basics, food and petrolcurrent official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

The daily interest is coming down nicely, good to see how much progress you're making already with the mortgage.

Thanks for dropping by with kind words H
Not a lot to report today, paid £6 off c/c to clear last of costs for roof project, £585 to go!
Also, there will be at least another £1200 to find to finish the job i reckon im determined we are going to clear the lot with this months salaries after bills paid of course, will be tough, but doable if we are really careful, and get the overtime incurrent official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 05/06/25 - £101,353.67 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

Another weekend of changable weather! we really need it to dry up a bit, so hubby can crack on with the stonework in preparation for the roof sheets, wood etc being hopefully fully completed in the week we have off at the end of this month
We have gone through the costings for rehiring machinery, materials required, wages to pay, and we reckon another £3000 to find
Ive totted up, and in total including this extra, the roof replacement will have cost us £10,000.. of course it had to be done, but its stil hurts!:(
Im going to have to borrow from emergency fund, which i dont like but weve no choice, and some costs will be on c.card.
I love a challenge though, and have made the decision that after this month, until 1/1/18, will concentrate on making sure all costs for the roof are cleared, whilst overpaying, and adding to our p.bonds too.
Its going to be hard, but if we can do this it will mean in spring 2018 we can make a start on the next project, more fencing, gates and best of all my stable! (well, stable for my horse!)
Made £50 overpayment 7th August, bringing the new mortgage balance to £234,300 :j
