  • How awful... I definitely agree with you about counting our blessings now more than ever. I used to be annoyed when nothing much was happening in my life thinking I was boring or always wanting more, this year has taught me to appreciate a slow, uneventful day and count my lucky stars!
I enjoy reading your diary immensely!

Had my morning walk out with my horse, we are nearly a week in to his 2 week in hand twice a day 30 minute walk.. dont think hes impressed, but im enjoying the lovely countryside. hopefully after that we will be able to start a daily ride  :)
i contacted my mortgage provider after i had to leave the boss from hell job to see if it came to crisis point what the options were, i was having a panic day/worst case scenario worry day, im sure everyone knows what these are like..
Anywhoo, the guy i spoke to was lovely, he said as we were so much in credit due to overpayments, and we could go months without paying anything and they wouldnt do anything.. he gave me our 'in credit' figure, and cancelled my direct debit so i can pay what i want, which means the payments are totally in my control..  Ive done my budget, and paid Novembers payment in full, and an extra £75= - so much for enquiring about if i had to pay less..
ive decided as im now fully in control of sending payments, to do it weekly, to save more interest, and challenge myself.
Im so glad we have overpaid since moving here, it has given us options if we are in a corner, and alongside the emergency fund it really does make you sleep a little better at night.. :)

what a soggy day! :open_mouth: got wet through walking horsey this morning, only 3 more days then hopefully i can start riding him again  :) it will be a lot easier to ride him for an hour a day than the twice a day half hour in hand exercise we are doing at the moment.. tho its been nice as hubby has been joining us too before he goes to work .
£23 account tidied into the mortgage account ready for novembers payments. As im paying all payments myself, with no direct debit, my plan is to make weekly payments, every friday, as ive already paid Novembers standard payment and a bit more besides, and as november will be a tighter budget month, im starting afresh in november now. So all small ammounts go to the mortgage account, in preparation for the first friday payment. My aim is to meet, and hopefully exceed, the standard payment every month, even though at the moment i have no full time job..
i need to think about ways to earn some extra cash.... and save the pennies too..
life is tough at the moment for us all, but we need to keep plodding on, we will get through this challenging time  :)

  • I love that you're both taking horsie for a walk in the morning 😆

Be kind to yourself - we've got a long way to go yet and, as you say, tough times.

yey! can start riding my horse again!  :) so now i can have a soggy ride in place of the soggy walks  :| this rain is pants!
we have sold two of our sheep to a lovely home who is going to have them for breeding, they are too good to be grass cutters, they are destined for motherhood, so they have an exciting future ahead... and that will mean the grass we have will be enough for the other 4 in spring, we struggled this year, and only managed as a neighbour allowed us to put the sheep on their paddock while they await planning permission..
Also the cash from the sale will cover food/fuel/animal feed for next week, so the money for this already in the pots can go to the mortgage pot  :)

    interest for October- £480.23
    Daily- £15.49
Paid to mortgage in november (not including interest)= £2688.19. this includes the £1226.40 d/d 1st October, and £1300 early payment for Novembers standard payment.
Total overpaid above standard payment in October- £235.39
So, not too shabby considering we are scraping by on just hubby working full tim :)
I think overpayments will be a struggle for the next few months until im working fulltime again (hopefully  :/), but i will do my best with the penny watching and see what we can achieve
