Ebay-Item not delivered and seller is no longer a registered useer

  • Hi,

I brought goods not from ebay, but form a guy advertising on the loot. worth £1000. I paid by bank transfer believing as it was traceable it would be safe. I had never received goods and seller made it clear that he has not intention to send them. The banks offer no protection to people who`send by instant transfer but I have seen nowhere where they state this BEFORE you send. Tried some C*@! that I willingly sent the money. I was decieved therefore, i cant seeh how it is willingly sent. The police are rubbish, sneding the investigation from force to force instead of contacting the bank for his address. Why is there no protection for people who send in this way?

There can be no protection for bank transfers as otherwise the banking system would collapse.

Every time you pay a bill using a transfer, or send money to pay for an item it is guaranteed therefore the person receiving the money knows it cannot be recalled and they are safe to supply goods or services as appropriate. If the money could be recalled just think of the problems...sender claims fraud or mistake so banks give them their money back. That makes a complete mockery of the system so no one would ever accept any form of internal payment again, just in case.

We must take some responsibility for our own actions, scammers only work because there are people naive to believe the scam and not understand how to protect themselves. If we all took care to understand how to be safe and how to protect ourselves all those horrid scammers would have to get a real job instead of scamming inoccent people. Let's close those scammers down, lets be sensible out there.

  • Only 3 months after I logged a dispute with ebay, I received an email from them saying that I was actually going to get a refund (up to £120) from them because I hadn't received the ipod I paid for in May.

We'll see if the refund actually turns up in my Paypal account - but having read all this post, I was surprised to be told that I'll get anything back.

    Interesting.

Well, the major difference with your case and this thread is that OP didn't pay with paypal.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
