it might all be a bit complicated as he's now showing up as 'no longer registered with ebay'.....:happyhear0

Unforrtunately there is no ebay dispute process nor has there been for bank transfers so apart from notifying them that you have a problem with the seller there is nothing else to be done.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hmmm... why hasn't anyone suggested about contacting the police???
Find his contact info here:
http://search.ebay.co.uk/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofocus=bs&sacat=-1&catref=C5&_trksid=m37&from=R7&nojspr=y&fsop=1&fsoo=1&fcl=3&frpp=50&sofindtype=9&pfid=
Get his address and get the police to deal with it and mention that he scammed loads of other people..
Say Fraud which I think helps0 -
What I don't understand is why eBay told me to open a dispute, and gave me all the details of the protection policy if they don't cover bank transfers (and I had told them I paid via bank transfer)? Are they just trying to avoid people involving them in police cases?
Through eBay, I have a name and a town. An internet search gives me the same name in the same town with a postcode. So I think I have enough contact details to go to the police and trading standards. Does anyone else want to join me? Should I write to the person first to let them know I'm planning to do this?0 -

If disputes aren't opened, ebay won't notice there's a problem with a user. Sure, it may be a futile gesture, but at least there's a chance of getting the user kicked off ebay faster.
Not much comfort, but it does make sense in a wierd, ebay kind of way.My TV is broken!

Like fay says..disputes don't necessarily benefit the user in any way, however they may well benefit future buyers as ebay are likely yo be watching sellers with too many complaints.
There has also been a move on ebay.com to start suspending sellers who have an unacceptable cutomer complaint record and the gossip on this is that it isn't based on feedback, but on complaints and auctions reported.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I appreciate that - but my thief was kicked off ebay ages ago. When I spoke to him he said ebay had given him two weeks to sort out all the people he owed ipods to (he admitted he hadn't fulfilled loads of orders) so that he could come back on ebay. He obviously hasn't done this. But now that he's been kicked off ebay, there's nobody to help me apart from the police. I guess that's my next step.0

If you paid by bank transfer then ebay wouldn't have done anything anyway as per my earlier post. Therefore ebay have done exactly what they should do by kicking him off after receiving complaints.
Reagrdless of whether the seller was suspended or not ebay would have been of no assistance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ive done the same. Paid £100 for two dresses and paid via bank transfer as seller wouldn't take any other form of payment. Further, she had the cheek to tell me to hurry up with my payment! Seller scammed several others and is now no longer registered. BUT a few of the others contacted the police and have now received their money back but that was when they were still registered. I have yet to file a complaint as the seller said that I was one of the last to pay (as in prompt payment but last transaction) so will get my money back the last, as in middle of this month.
I've yet to recover £123 from an American buyer who did a chargeback and £51.50 from a UK buyer whose cheque bounced after it had cleared
Ebay and paypal are out there to make money. I don't think they really care much for people like you and me
