    Could you really do this? I don't think it would work in my case even if it is usually possible.

    I have Plusnet but I'm moving house. I have 5 options;

    1) Pay £150 to have a line installed in new house
    2) Pay £50 but extend my contract by 12 months on £9.99 deal
    3) Pay nothing but extend my contract by 18 months on £9.99 deal
    4) Pay nothing but extend my contract by 24 months on £6.49 deal
    5) Leave early and pay them £50

    I'm leaving them because they are utter !!!!. The net drops very frequently but only for a few seconds.... which means playing FIFA, Battlefield, Football Manager has constant losses and disconnections.

    If I did choose number 4 though and come next year with the price increase I leave, would I be liable to pay for the line installation for leaving early?

    I take it that you're on ADSL? If so, it might not be the ISP's problem but rather a problem with the telco lines. I had numerous problems in the past with my ADSL connection, the connection would drop randomly on occasion and I would always lose my connection when it rained. After complaining to BT and explaining the problem to them they sent someone out and found that the line drop from pole to house was very old and had exposed wires. BT replaced the wire and after that I had no connection issues.

    You might have a similar problem with cables or trees touching cables or a bad joint somewhere between your property and exchange. BT will only do a basic line test if you raise a call about a bad line connection but ADSL is very sensitive to any issues with the connection wires.
