DVLA Scam...?

So can I drive while my licence is renewed?
According to a DVLA spokesman, qualified drivers are still entitled to drive a vehicle if their licence has expired, but what they must be aware of is that they could be charged with the offence of failing to renew their licence. If the matter went to court, then the motorist could end up with a £1,000 fine. The spokesman went on to say that the reason photocard licences needed to be renewed every ten years was because people's faces would change over that period, so updates are essential.
The person who started this discussion off really needs to come back and explain what they meant by 'expired' as its rare to get pulled for an out of date photocard.0 -

I'd still say if your photo has expired, then the license you are carrying has expired though, no?
Confusing!

The photograph expires and needs updating every 10 years, but your licence (authority to drive) doesn't.0 -
I am OVER 70 and perversely my licence first expired 2 years before that date and I did renew it along with a new photo and subsequently RENEWED it again on receipt of a reminder prior to my 70th. birthday as I did again ( believed, WRONGLY! ) when then last reminder arrived, albeit not realising that the BOGUS site had not bothered to ACTUALLY process the RENEWAL!
I think that many of the replying posts are MISSING that MAIN point, in short you may have been scammed and also not completed the intended renewal.
Contary to some implications in previous posts one does not regress to being an imbecile just because they age, as will all of you in time as that is the only certainty in life from the day you enter this world.0 -
In response to a comment that it is rare to be pulled for an out of date photocard that may have been so in the past but with the abolition of the need to display a Tax Disc and the "joined up" computer systems for Tax, MOT, Insurance, Licence, Address feeding the new Number Plate Recognition System I'm afraid to my personal cost that is now longer the case!

Noone was not believing, but there was confusion over exactly what had expired - which you have not clarified.
Now that you have confirmed that your license had expired, that would probably have been flagged on the ANPR as they drove past your car hence you got pulled over.0 -
End of todays lesson as I'm getting bored and need norishment not punishment as these days in this Lunatic Asylum they appear to Reward the Guilty & Punish the INNOCENT, the LUnatics are indeed Running the Asylum these days and in the words of the old Musical Hall song "Come Inside You Silly B*gg*rs Come Inside"!0
