I agree, pasta is a nice dish, I would personally prefer it if the sauce was a home made sauce rather than a jar

In the category of "best to avoid": anything likely to induce mood-killing bodily functions...(I'd avoid very spicy foods, cabbage, sprouts...you get the drift - as it were!), anything that people may find repulsive (tongue, liver, oysters...), microwave/oven meals, anything of doubtful freshness (wilted salad, grey meat...). Apart from that, as long as you make a bit of an effort, you'll be fine!0

Pasta tends to be cheap rubbish with a jar of tacky sauce over it. Yes I know you can get decent pasta and make your own sauces from scratch.
Not only can you get some decent pasta...its quite easy to make your own...and added to your own sauce it makes a very nice meal....I do both regularly and im neither struggling to eat or on benefit!
Whats more important than anything is that the OP cooks something his girlfriend will like...
