Romantic meal ideas

I'd say the most romantic is knowing what each other's favourite meals are and doing that to be honest.
One time for my OH's birthday I thought I'd be really adventurous, so I did triple cheese souffle, beef wellington and then baked alaska. They all went really well apart from the baked alaska and ended up with melted icecream and horrible meringue, but actually the failure made it even better, as we had such a laugh about it and it really made the evening!
I find breakfasts really romantic. I've got a heart cutter which you can use to make heart shaped eggs or pancakes. Heart shaped pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream with maybe a glass of bucks fizz, can't get better than that!
Another good one is making food you can 'share' rather than just two set plates. Our date nights are normally tapas and I love this sooo much more than ordering 2 individual plates.0 -
How did you get on with the spag bol, was thinking of the slurping, getting it all round your face, & if you wear white be prepared for getting splattered caused by slurping?

What about preparing some sort of meaty saucy mix in a large bowl & a plate of wraps? You can put anything in it then to suite your dietary requirements. Grab a bowl each & dig in.
Or tonight (maybe not so romantic due to smell & possible after effects) I'm doing a chicken tikka pasta dish. Requires one bag of chicken tikka (£2.50 from Iceland & will actually do 2-3 meals for 2 people), one onion, one carrot, one potato, anything that goes really, even a bit of salad, chop veg up small, cook in microwave for about 5 mins, add veg to tikka, salt & pepper to taste, cook & add pasta spirals (30p from Mozzas & bag will do a 2-3 meals for 2 people), give it all a jolly good mix & add mayo. This is a lovely filling meal & looks lovely. Just thought it could be too spicy
Failing that a nice casserole with some crusty bread & wine.
Just had another read through & the main thing is having a meal cooked & doing the washing up is very important too ;-)0 -
Make her a packed lunch, and be sure to leave an "I love you" note tucked in?
Not all romantic meals are shared...0 -

Strangely enough that's what we had for tea last night. Hardly romantic though as he had his 3 hours later than me.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I've decided on my friends suggestion of Chicken stuffed with goats cheese and tarragon and wrapped in parma ham with asparagus and perhaps sweet potato mash.
She really appreciates my cooking so yes, I think it doen't matter what we have it'll always be special, I guess I just want to show off my cooking skills

stuff that gets you messy like bbq chicken drumsticks and wings wait for her to get some sauce on her face and kiss it off or
something like a quiche or tart in a heart shape or
any nice meal that she likes but you feed it to her while she is wearing a blindfold or
big sharing plate of spaghetti and meatballs or
personally i think breakfast can be a really romantic meal if done right
remember to set the mood with non scented candles low lights etc and push the last meatball across to her with your nose
or you could make yourself into a naked sushi table!!!!
Feeding one another? Naked sushi table?
The mind boggles.0 -
A nice curry with some japattis and to start some popadums and pickles.
I would personally think it as a very poor effort if someone just made me a bowl of pasta unless they were on benefits and were totally struggling to eat.
Pasta tends to be cheap rubbish with a jar of tacky sauce over it. Yes I know you can get decent pasta and make your own sauces from scratch.Only this is acceptable really if someone was trying to make an effort.0 -

My brother cooks a pasta dish with creme fraiche, mussels, prawns and chilli. As you say, it depends what you do with it. But tbh, it wouldnt bother me if someone made me a pasta or a rice dish. Some people arent great cooks, my ex could burn water, anything he ate was out of a packet or something that could be shoved in the oven, I never saw him make a meal from scratch in the 7 years we were together.
Also, curries can be a tough one to call, I like certain curries, not others, really dont like kormas for example.0
