I don't even need the account, I was hoping to secure one to help build up my credit rating further and to grab the discount codes they always give out!
A credit union loan & a mobile phone contract don't count towards a good credit history.0 -

A Vanquis card will certainly help towards your credit worthiness.0 -

A mobile phone contract will count towards your credit history, same with a credit union loan.
So look at this from the creditors shoes. You've only been free of debt and discharged, what 2 years?
You've got a phone contract, a loan, a high apr credit card (recently). Chances are you just look too bigger risk.0 -
I opened a Simply Be account around a year after my BR and I now have a £2k limit (not used!!!!) I suspect therefore that because you owed them money when you went BR, they will not allow another credit account.
I also have a vanquis card and my BR will drop off my file next year so hoping for a better credit card.0 -

All a mobile contract does is show up as a single data line of how you paid the last years bills and is not a credit agreement.0 -

Correct. They show in the credit account section, and a paid up contract is taken as a positive factor by many lenders.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

A mobile phone will have very little effect counting towards someone's credit history compared to a credit card etc etc.0 -
