I've been to the one at Virginia Water, and it was very good; the dress was just smart casual.0

It's the sort of place you shouldn't just turn up at in very casual clothes but at the same time you don't need to be in smart suits or dresses. On arrival they will ask if you want to keep your coat with you or if you want them to take it and put it in the cloakroom.
The restaurants are mainly located in larger cities like Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and then the more affluent smaller towns like Bramhall, Didsbury, Hale and Knutsford, so that probably tells you what sort of customers their target market is.0 -

Went to Bristol Piccolino last night for first time to use our 2 x £20 gift cards. Attractive venue, tables well spaced, subdued lighting, lovely and warm on such a cold night. Both of us chose fillet escalopes in a thick sauce, and even the waiter couldn't tell which one was red wine & gorgonzola and which one was green peppercorn. Both looked (and tasted!) the same and was reminiscent in texture, taste and appearance to a tin of stewed steak.
With a beer and a glass of water, our bill was £10 - thank goodness it wasn't £50.
Oh yes, we were given a small plate of rosemary foccacia bread and dipping oil which was lovely- the highlight of the evening.0 -
Has anyone been to Piccolino at Exchange Square nr. Liverpool St. London? I have to use my card by Monday and it's the easiest to get to for me.
The menu looks slightly different to Heddon Street, London.
Westminster Piccolino looks lovely but very pricey so my £20 credit won't go that far.
Think I will def avoid the fillet escalopes after reading some reviews!0 -
Finally decided on Heddon St.,(off Regent St.). Very swish, would advise against jeans/trainers and go for smart casual clothes.
Considering recession, quite full for a Monday lunchtime.
I wasn't very keen on the choices for the 2 course quick lunch menu, which at £19, would have been under the £20 credit so
ordered half a roast chicken flattened and grilled which came with roast potatoes in garlic and rosemary; be careful as most of the main courses do not include vegetables which are priced extra.
The waitress was lovely and my meal was freshly cooked to order but arrived very promptly.
My main course was £18.50, pizza and pasta were less but meat or fish dishes around this price, but I splurged on a sinfully decadent pudding of warm chocolate fondant accompanied by salt caramel icecream, again all cooked on the premises, which has to be very high on my list of best ever puddings. It was priced at £6.50 but was worth every penny.
Service charge of 12.5 per cent is added at customer's discretion, but I chose to cross this through and gave my tip personally to my waitress as she had been so charming.
My only gripe would be that when I waited to be seated, I showed the Maitre D' my Club Individual card and he made a great show of checking that my credit was showing on there by making me wait by the entrance desk whilst taking other bookings as he had to go outside to check the credit. I felt embarassed and then, when he had verified my credit, he firstly offered me a table right by the door and, when I refused this on the grounds that it was freezing, he showed me to a table right by the servery. After I had been seated and waiters had to skirt round my table, he suddenly 'found' a lovely table in the corner on a comfy banquette. Why is it that women dining alone always have to fight for a decent table?
Apart from that, Piccolino Heddon St., London is a lovely restaurant with wonderful food.0
