You have nothing to lose:)
Is the house in being sold by the current owner due to them needing to move or have they inherited it?
When I got my new house it was the only property we saw that suited ds3 needs and that why we took less for our house as we had to have this one.
Not inherited, the current owners are looking to move to a different area but I don't know how desperate they are. Is 20% off the asking price about right for a house just on the market.
It's a large 4 bed detach and similar houses are up for more than 200k in the same location but are not selling as they've been for sale for a while.
It does need work doing on it but nothing major, we can live in it and do it up gradually over time.0 -
Ok so just received an email from the good lady, she has been to A and used 2 x APGs from the glitch the other day, anyways, the SA didnt sign either of them but just gave them back to her. So can they be used again? They are £4 odd each...Thanks0

Hi sad dad
Hope you dont mind me butting in but I'm an ex estate agent my advice would probably to start from £175 and go from there. If its new to the market some vendors get a little disgruntled with really low offers and see the buyer as somewhat of a time waster or almost insulting there home0 -

Remember if its just on the market it will be at a higher price so I think they will take less but £40,000 less is a big ask.
Point out all the work that needs doing and see what they say after the low offer.0 -

Think you'll find most on here will tell you that's a no,no of major distinction , not just bending the line but so far past it you can't see it:eek:The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -

I will be in the postion of selling soon (inherited). I have been giving a value by estate agent (for inheritance tax) which he felt would be the minimum I would get for the place and told to market it for 10% more. I don't think I would accept offer below the value I have been giving if not long on the market. HTHs0 -

Thanks, you're not butting in, all advice is welcome. It's a big decision for our family to make and a lot of money involved so I need to get it right. Anyone else got an opinion?0 -
2 things stood out for me in that article
1. The City recruitment consultant was caught when a security guard noticed he was scanning everything as loose onions, which were not sold at the store.
If they don't sell loose onions, what the dickens are they doing on the scanner
2. This comment

Reminds me of the time I put a 52" Plasma screen through as assorted salted nuts.

Good Morning All,
I'm looking for a little bit of advice on buying a house as I've not got much experience of this.
I'm going to put an offer in for a house that has just been put up for sale, signs are up but not on the internet or in local papers yet. We were the first ones to view it at the weekend.
Asking price is 200k which I think is reasonable but I'm looking to get the best price possible. What do you think I should offer? Is it being cheeky putting a low offer in of 160k or have I got nothing to lose as it's a buyer's market.
Thanks,
Sad_Dad
I think if you see things from the seller's point of view, one viewer has seen it and wants to buy and offers low, if others see the property they might offer a bit more.
You've nothing to lose by chancing it, but usually low offers are accepted after the house has been on the market for a while. Of course you could always start low and then up your offer! If it were me and I really wanted the house, I'd offer 170k.
HTH and good luck!!:T:T0
