I used to do this ALOT but took the tags of etc, as long as you keep them it's ok.
One time i wore white suit, spilt blackcurrant down the sleeve, and washed it, i thought the marks had come out so took it back and got a full refund.
Then saw it the suit the following week in the sale!!!
Thankfully the sales assistant i returned it to never noticed and i got my money back
also re the mustard sandwich comment - tomato sauce is great on sandwiches (alone!)Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -

Done the toilet roll and homemade sanitary towel thing.
When my eldest was a baby I became very familiar with which stores and their baby changing rooms provided free nappies and would regularly liberate a few.
Queued up for the free butter and tinned beef.
Signed up with a milkman in January one year as they had a promotion that you would get a free turkey for the following christmas.
Gone round the markets after packing up time and taken bruised and discarded fruit and veg.
Knew best 'skip' days for all supermarkets and when to go and get stuff from the bins. I know, not good but when you're hungry....all food wrapped and sealed and many times not even out of date.
Not answered the door on Halloween night because I was thoroughly ashamed of not having any thing to give the children.
Freewheeled my car to save petrol.
Used various garages to fill up on petrol and then say I'd forgot my purse, would pay them at a later date.
Walked around the streets hoping to 'find' money someone may have dropped, even gone through the local launderette to see if anyone had forgotton money in the washer/dryers. Needless to say, never found nowt.:rotfl:
One the same theme, checked phone boxes for forgotton coins.
Lived on chappati's for weeks at a time, we had savoury and pudding chappatis.
To make chappati, mix flour, salt, water, knead, flat out, fry in pan.
Savoury, with mxed herbs or if living it up, a bit of cheese.
Pudding, smear with jam or sugar.
Been fed by the Krisna's and other religious organisations who used to come around with a van and distribute food and blankets.
Sent off to local charities for a grant in order to buy a washing machine.
When I got my first house, it was furnished by a charity as I had nothing.
Thought I was rich once because I had got a £250.00 loan and had the cash in my hand and I had never had so much money in my life, I was 24 at the time.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

An expensive ladies shop in town used to let stuff out on appro, to try on at home (trusting shops, small town, don't think you'd get this in a big city!) One woman was in a photo in the local paper at some do. She had on the frock she had out on appro, and someone who worked in the shop saw it. They stopped the appro after that.0 -
Used to 'buy' things in Tesco/M&S a week before payday, and pay by cheque, then return the item the next morning and get a cash refund, to last till payday - no wonder fewer shops accept payment by cheque anymore.:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

ooh just remembered another one - when being bad in student days, we'd all go to M&S as the switch system would let us buy a can of drink and get cashback, even when we had no money. BAD.CCCS DMP:Feb 07
