I cant get a mortgage but have 100k. I need to keep some for a rainy day so have a budget of 80k.
I can move anywhere as not committed to anywhere with work I can do my work wherever.
Can you get a 'nice' 2 bed for that amount of money. ie nice area, and no work needed doing.???
Where I live you cant buy a shed for that money.
Im quite excited at starting my life again, but simply dont know where to look??
Any ideas anyone? any links? Can it be done?
Bit background, Im 45 divorced but want to start a new life, countryside would be nice but open to any ideas.
Thanks!:)

You can buy a whole street in the ex-mining towns of Yorkshire, let alone one house.Be happy...;)0

Look at BB4 postcode are in Rightmove there are some decent 2 beds in good areas going for £60K to £80K...I'm biased but we are only 20 miles from Manchester and we are in the countryside.0

A house opposite me is on for £85000 in ready to move into condition. If I had the deposit I would buy it.
I moved here from Manchester as it is semi rural and would not live anywhere else now.
We are in BB5.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0 -
try a right move search for Carmarthenshire
but if you are intending to look for work once settled , above average unemployment but plenty of minimum wage jobs to be found if you really want to work and will take anything
all the best sounds exciting, partner and I did same 15 years ago, hence we ended up in Carmarthenshire near the sea0 -
Ive had a look at Rossendale now on right move. Wow yes you can get some nice houses there for the price. I dont know that area but had a look on wiki.... is it like really in the country it looks like there are hills etc which looked lovely. It might sound a silly question but is it a friendly place with a nice feel. Sorry to offend anyone here, but once we were thinking of getting a house in Corby and it just seemed rather 'unwelcoming!' just gave off that vibe that i wouldnt want to live there.
Incidently Corby and surrounding areas arnt that cheap now....0 -

I'd add Pembrokeshire to that. Same economic problems as Carmarthenshire, but the south of the county is more 'English' and has some fantastic beaches, though the interior is less scenic.0 -
Us northerners are really friendly we talk to people in shops and on buses etc...if you pick carefully there are some lovely houses our only problem is a lack of jobs in the area there used to be a cotton industry and a shoe industry bit it's all gone. We look out on moorland and Rossendale is a Valley surrounded by the Pennines, as I said I am biased but I travel extensively for work and I have never found anywhere nicer in the UK. We are close to the Lake District, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales we have our own walking trails all around the area some nice pubs and restaurants I love it.0

Last time I looked at a map, both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire were in Wales, not England

depending on your meaning of nice, you might find something in that price range round the Portsmouth and Isle of Wight area, particularly Gosport, but other than that i think you can probably rule out the majority of the rest of the south coast0
