    Right this is my opinion,

I would put 25th for both comps :D

ok it's your opinion and any OP can post any date in the title they want can't they? :)

I just wanted it explained how it is that more people would miss out by posting it as the 24th, just curious that's all :)

what's ok? I just want see how more people would miss out by an earlier end date, as that's how most people here post a comp at the moment given a query about when a comp may end

the way I see it (using above example) if it's posted as 24th

people who enter as posted it makes no difference
end daters would get their entry in

    if it's posted as 25th

people who enter as posted it makes no difference
but end daters entering on 25th will all miss out if it has already been drawn

fell free to comment anyone if I'm getting this wrong :)

  • Totally agree Glad, I just can't understand how any other way of doing it would make sense.

Glad you are spot on, that's how it makes sense and needs to be, this board is getting a bit whacky at times, and that isn't aimed at anyone. Xxx

Glad you are right. I am an end date comper and have missed out on a number of comps because they have been posted in the way Lucky suggests. It happened recently with an effort comp. I spent a few hours making my entry only to find it has already finished when I went on the site; it was rather annoying.

Please don't take this offensively Lucky, but it is all good and well having an opinion on something that is subjective, but it is rather narrow minded to do so when there is an objective reality.

You often speak about how change is good, so why not make a change in the way you post end dates based on the facts and logical reasoning that have been highlighted in this thread?

    Thanks for your relpy,

I very rarely get any iffy date ones anyway, if I posted one with a end date you or others did not agree on then you can always PM Glad or Dalkrist to change it.

I'm not entering into a "debate" about my opinion this time because I'm not so well at the moment can't see anything out of one eye & am struggling. My IIH is playing up & could mean I loose the sight in that eye. May need a Lumber puncture to drain the excess fluid to stop the pressure on the optic nerve of that eye or if worse a stent op. I will find out once I gain enough courage to contact the consultant to see me. Which I can't seem to do at the moment, burying my head in the sand & hoping the eye will clear on it's own

So forgive me if I reply with a "thanks hope your day's nice" or just a grin or a wave

If I had known putting my opinion would need a lengthy reply I would not of left it

OK this may sound daft but is there any difference regarding the terms 'Reach us by' and 'Ends on' regarding competitions?

For example if the website says that the competition ends on the 25th September then obviously that is the last date to get entries in, but. If the site says Reach us by 25th September then does that mean to reach them before the 25th September as they will draw the winner on that day?

Like I say probably a daft question but sometimes the daft questions are the best :rotfl:

So back to the original question, the general consensus is that if a comp says 'reach us by the 25th', most would generally put E: 24 - to cover all bases just in case.

Good good, I'd generally agree with this view too
