Use sky box to get freesat?

Thanks all for guiding me through this. I've ordered one from John Lewis at £230. Bit more than others but I like the security of it.0

You could probably make some money back by selling your old Sky box online, if it's a recent model.
The only channel I miss being on FreeSat compared to sky is Dave

With freesat you get ALL the same channels as Sky, EXCEPT for the 'sky only- channels eg Sky One, Sky Sports. Freeview goes off a different aerial so you aren't guaranteed to get all possible channels.
There are freesat boxes available with the same functionality as Sky, such as rewind/ record/ pause. They're over £100 but if you think how much sky is a month, you'll probably pay it off after 6!0 -

Thanks for this. My Hum,ax is being delivered today. I want to check it all works ok and then will cancel Sky. They offered me something like £8 off a month for 3 months which really teed me off - hence going for Freesat. They will now probably offer me a fantastic deal!! However, I'm going anyway.
The box is a recent model but not sure about selling online. Where would be a good place to sell? Ebay? Don't want hassle.0 -
Gumtree is very popular for selling Sky STB's. Also there can be local websites or just stick a card in supermarket/shop.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I don't know whether all new Humax boxes are twin or dual tuner, but you need this if you want to record two channels at once.0

Humax have recently released a single tuner STB however this requires an additional hard drive to be attached. The one the OP got is however the dual tuner version. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
