I think I know its maybe perhaps getting very close to THAT time but cant bear it. I got my dog when I was 28......and am 44 now.
My dad died last year and my dog was the one that got me through it - I would walk her constantly and it slowly helped clear my head - she also got me through my marriage break up.. She has helped me through so much and I now have to help her through her hard times.
Its truly breaking my heart
I know what you are going through - Meg my springer was an absolutely lovely dog and my best friend. it was heartbreaking to watch her become incontinent and my OH became quite antagonistic to her and me (not the most sympathetic response, but like you, I had just had new wool carpeting laid in my lounge and it cost about the same as yours).
Try the things I have suggested but, as the problem becomes worse (and it will, it cant get better), please please reconsider whether you are prolonging her life for selfish reasons. I am not saying this to be harsh - but I KNOW I shouldn't have 'hung on' to Meg as long as I did. I never once put myself in her place - for a fastidious dog she must have felt so ashamed to 'soil' in the house and tbh, all she could manage to do was amble round the living room! I felt so much guilt after a tongue lashing from a new vet who had the task of PTS and saw her for the first time, and the shock on his face - well it was like I had a kick up the bum! I DONT want you to experience that. so have a think about it hun? my thoughts are with you.
