A good start to the security though.

Although I like the functionality improvements in iOS 7, the new look and feel is horrible, being devoid of any colour or 3D effects just like Microsoft Office 2013. Buttons are not obviously buttons any more and it looks very dated like in the early days of computing.

One degraded piece of functionality is when sending messages. Previously a green send button showed that a message would be sent as a potentially chargeable SMS, whereas a blue send button showed it would be sent as a free iMessage. Now you have to start typing a message before the text of the button changes to the appropriate colour; this requires tapping the screen at least three times - a step backwards.

I love it. It's so much better than iOS 6 in every way, other than its a little sluggish on my iPad 2 in places.

    Yes you can, see here.

Worth noting you need to be quick! - if you're going to downgrade. Apple will stop signing the iOS 6 firmware soon then you won't be able to.

    Loving it.

The icons moving over the background from all angles was the clincher for me.

Does that mean that I really have to upgrade to iOS7? i am relatively new to Apple and only have an iPod Touch . I was offered the upgrade earlier this week. I started to download it on iTunes but was told that it would take 37 hours. It was late and I was about to go to bed so I abandoned it. Since then I have seen the mixed reviews in MSE so don't know whether to try again or leave it on iOS6.

I have just updated my iPad to 7. Hate it. It looks like my first computer, the Mac Classic!

Where's my lovely yellow notepad and 3-D effect buttons?

click on phone to see a list of incoming/outgoing calls, after the number there is an exclamation mark, click this and block the caller.;)

Thank you. What does the caller/messenger get there end? I guess they know their text hasn't been sent all their call is being blocked?

I am now getting used to it. There are several setting that you can mess with to get the notepad back to colour.

Sending messages need a few setting changes too, or it will try and send messages from e-mail to save you money...

Can you let us know where to change the settings? On my iPhone 5, I can't find one...

On a positive note, the compass is nice and can be used as a level too. I like the enhanced security but be aware the default settings in control centre should both be turned off (Access on Lock Screen and Access Within Apps), in order to avoid a security bug where you can bypass the password on a locked phone.

I don't like the new notes, nor do I like the calculator or the contacts. The original background and fonts were far nicer.
