  • The OP didn't think it was going for that price, just didn't realise how much.
It'll probably end up going for way more than this, but if the seller is ok then I might keep my eye on their other sales for a bargain.

    From the first post.

Also I would do an insurance quote on a range of cars. I,m presuming he will be needing a reasonable sized car to carry ladders and business insurance. You may be in for a shock on the cost.

He's got a telescopic ladder, he doesn't need larger one for the type of job he does (CCTV/alarms) otherwise cherry-pickers/scaffolding is available. So am thinking Focus sized at least, or an estate. (We have a C4 which he is using at the moment).

I will get him to look into business insurance, it might be that he ends up paying monthly.

Plus has her other half got his own full NCD to attach to the policy?.

    Yes

To be honest the fact the OP thought a
2004 TOYOTA COROLLA VERSO D4D T-SPIRIT DVD 7 SEATS DIESEL.

Was for sale for £102, says that they have not sat down and investigated the budget seriously.

I've never bought a second hand car, so wasn't sure if places sold off cars like this really cheap as they were in poor condition externally. I know it wouldn't go for £102 in the end, but it seemed like a low starting price (and as I acknowledged, too good to be true).

As I said in my previous post, if they only have a budget of £500, I would advise checking insurance first to see what, if any cars are possible.

I was initially asking for advice on the auction itself, whether it would be a viable option.
I am just starting the search for a motor and wanted to look at all possibilities. If we have to wait a couple of months so we can increase the budget, then we will.

    Appreciate all the input :D

Sorry my mistake. But it certainly would not be going for anything close to £500 either.

OP. An older Focus should be able to be picked up for £500. Wont be the prettiest, but if its just a workhorse, no worries.

OP what area do you live in?

Before I retired a couple of years ago I only paid an extra £10 a year for business cover. Unless the business is especially hazardous, business cover is cheap or even offered for no extra premium.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • We're in Portsmouth.

    Thanks Gaz

Also the postcode is a major factor.

2 years ago I moved from central Manchester to a sleepy village in Essex and my insurance dropped from £700 to £200 over night.
