I regularly dry Squeaks sweatshirts overnight.. I have the bigger airer and lay 2 sweatshirts on the middle shelf and hang towels in the gaps and I have a sheet draped over the top and they are always dry by morning.. and warm to put on
I often wash and dry winter coats too.. I just hang them on the main vertical poles and they dry in no time.

I bought a dri buddi in October as a stop-gap; the lakeland one was on my Christmas list was just too expensive to buy at the time. I am amazed how much I like the dri buddi considering some of the negative comments I had read. Previously I had all the washing drying on the radiators but since October I haven't had the radiators on so was looking for something to use instead. It is quite big but I am lucky as my kitchen is quite big so I don't notice the steam at all. I dry everything in it, including the superking duvet cover - it's just all in the hanging. I check it every so often and move some bits about but find jeans dry fairly quickly and better than on the rads as the whole length are heated at the same time. I am also lucky as I have the equivalent of economy 7 (I live abroad) at the weekend so I can get the laundry done and dried in one day, without wet washing hanging around. I crossed the lakeland one off my Christmas list, but will look at buying it again if the dri buddi makes a significant difference to the electricity bill.0

I bought the Aldi flat dryer and eventually discovered the layering trick. It works really well, but do watch out for condensation. I've used a [Aldi] dehumidifier in the same room lately and it's really much better, plus the room warms up nicelyIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0

Hi I bought a heated rail similar to the Aldi one but with wings. I'm not impressed, only the bits touching the bars actually dry and I had to keep moving the stuff all day. I would really like to try a dehumidifier, but they are so expensive. Can anyone recommend one of these as I don't want to waste even more money?0

Desiccant dehumidifiers are best for drying clothes , I've got an ecoair122fw model draws moisture out much more efficiently than the compressor type and lovely to have clothes which don't take three days to dry and still smell nice! Still hanker after the Lakeland airer tho:rotfl:0 -

Thank you for your reply. I was so desperate to get one I spent all last night looking online. I am glad to say that I did buy one and the good news is it's the one you have just recommended, so I feel a lot better knowing that. Thanks again0 -

As mentioned with airers, pop a duvet cover over the airer and dehumidifier to trap the air in -really speeds up drying time. Vaccum the air filter every couple of weeks its incredible the fluff it gathers!0 -
Hi.... I've just joined cos I saw this post and I've just done some math comparing running costs of a tumble dryer versus Lakeland airer....
I have an 'efficient' Bosch tumble dryer. And 4 kids, hence a lot of washing...I worked out a comparison (using my new electric smart meter that was just fitted a few weeks ago) based on 3 days per week of using the tumble dryer about 3 times per day from the months of Oct to April. (Prob I would use it more than that.... but just for the comparison...) this costs us roughly £420 for this winter period...Oct through April.
If I was to use the Lakeland airer for 10 hours EVERY DAY during this same period it'd cost roughly £130.
So you can see the heated airer is way more economical than a tumble dryer.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks Jojo that's super useful. We'd love get rid of our tumble dryer and have a second freezer instead.
O
I have a dehumidifier so I'll try that first plus regular airer, with a sheet over both, and see how it goes.MFW #185
