I have a dri buddy - it does double sheets (flannelette no less!) easily. I fold them in half and drape them over the top of the hanger area. I only have it on when I'm there, but in any case I don't think there's any safety problem unless something is blocking the airflow from below.

Knickers I hang by one leg, several of them over each of the built in hanger things :D I have a lot of them, and let's just say Bridget Jones was wrong when she thought she had big knickers!! It dries them beautifully.

I hang trousers by the waist over two of the built in hanger prongs.

I can even dry my lightweight bed throws in the dribuddy - as long as nothing is touching the central air blower, it's all good.

I just bought an Aldi one as well cost 5p per hour to run and is similar to the lakeland one but only one tier but it only costs £24.99 with a 3 year guaranteeW4313_TH_Sunday_31.jpg

Have you tried one of these ( not necessarily this actual model)

Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

I've literally just bought one of the Aldi ones this afternoon, just testing it works ok with a couple of tops. Got it for bedding mainly though.

I have a Dri Buddy, and it doesn't fit as much in as they advertise - it has 5 (or maybe 6?) "arms" and each has 3 slots for hangers, but unless you're hanging really thin stuff like flimsy vest tops you can't fill all 3 at once. Thicker items like jeans I find need to be spread out and use two hangers for.

It's also very steamy, which I guess is expected, but it means it can't be used without the window open -so whilst it would warm your house up it would also make it damp.

Sometimes if I'm hanging wet jeans it feels unstable and like it will tip over.

I'm pretty sure the Lakeland one says also it's 5p an hour to run - that makes it £1.20 a day to run, and YES you will be running it for a day or two at a time....I've got one so I know :P I had mine on one of those monitor sockets for a bit, and it confirmed to me that it was cheaper (20p a load) to use the tumble drier!!!

Having said that, yes it's brilliant for stuff that you can't tumble dry - DS's clothes in my case. All his Nike/branded stuff that he won't let me tumble because he says it shrinks - but they will not be dry in a couple of hours, I find you have to switch stuff around to speed up the process, and you do HAVE to cover it. I'd say it was average to have it on for two days...

He does tend to stick all the stuff in the washing in a big load, so if I can kidnap the odd bit of washing, it's cheaper for me to hang it over the rayburn if it's on, but with the cost of oil we are turning it off/ switching it on earlier/later in the year anyway and I have to use the rack!

I'd also add that for best drying you need to lay stuff flat, so you'll not get loads on that Aldi rack. Otherwise the stuff dries over the bars and the stuff hanging down is still damp IYSWIM.

  • I covered mine with a sheet for a couple of hours then turned it off to dry overnight, so not too much electric used, I think that it is of more use to air clothes off that have come in from the garden, rather than to dry them. I will just put the really wet stuff in the bathroom with the small window open overnight.

I just give my washing an extra spin in the washing machine in the winter then dry on my non heated Lakeland airer in front of a south facing window( window slightly open). I am lucky as I have a large warm airing cupboard to finish airing .When we lived in a house I dried all my bedding, towels and jeans over the bannisters at night. Now I hang jeans on coat hangers in door ways overnight.
