Generally, yes. Both with our immediate, and wider circle of colleagues.
  • The Christmas do is usually a good laugh where I am now.

Where I used to work we were out once with the whole department and our manager got a bit chopsy at a lad and got himself punched in the face in front of us all....not great for his reputation as a manager ;)
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

    Went twice.

Once on an organised night out and once for a Xmas meal.

Twice was one time too many.

    They are colleagues not friends.

    I go out with friends
  • I'd not go - there's always some loud, drunk, idiot that'll be hell bent on spoiling the night, then calling YOU boring because you've not sunk 5 pints and nearly got in a fight.

Really? Not at my workplace - just a bunch of people having a few drinks and a bit of a gossip. What sort of place do you work at?

I'm not really into work drinks as I use to be but decided to step out comfort zone to go tonight, being quiet didn't have much to say but listened to stories though felt empty after the experience....wondered if anyone else gets that but maybe I felt that cause don't really make the effort. If anything it's put me off wanting to brave it again but be nice to try to get to know folk. Just didn't like emptiness I felt!

At my old workplace, yes. I had some absolutely lovely colleagues and I really miss them. Really, really kind, lovely people. In my new workplace, probably not. I hate to say this, but I see enough of them during the day. I've never worked with such miserable people.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

Sometimes I will go, sometimes I won't. Socialising with work colleagues isn't my highest priority, so it depends on home/family issues and whether I feel I *can* go.

I don't, I like everyone at work but we don't have anything in common. They're nice to work with but not really for socialising as well.

If its anything like going to rugby club with other wives on a 'social' evening - don't bother! honestly I have been to lots and finally put my foot down and refused to go! OH thought it reflected badly on him and got annoyed - but I refuse to go where if your face doesn't fit you get ignored - or you are expected to join in the beetchy comments about some poor sod, or you are expected to treat the teams star players wife as if she were 'Victoria Beckham'! count me out!
  • My work aren't hugely social so nights out are few and far between, but when we do go, we have a laugh. We have quite a small team so that makes it easier I think.

I have worked in large organisations were there are lots of cliques, and those do's aren't very enjoyable.

DH goes to work Christmas do. Its not done not to. There are quite a few other things, he sets a target of six a year.....so that he can be seen to be social and engaging with his colleagues, but not have to go to too many!
