Any tips for a first time camper

I can't remember the name of it, but the one by Harmans Cross station, about 5 miles from Swanage is OK. Basic, clean, reasonable shop and dead handy for the trains. There is another one on a farm, past the station, turn right - Basic, appalling toilets and showers, but handy if everywhere else is full!0

Swanage is great , I love it there and the shops are open late in summer.
we stayed on a wonderful one in between weymouth and swanage opposite the "white horse" carved in the hillside , no electric hookups though but only £5 per night , lovely little "sheds" dotted around the huge site on a farm , the sheds were lovely clean showers and toilets! you had to drive up a long track to get to it though.
If you fancy trekking a little further down the dorset coastline - head for charmouth and lyme regis - I reckon your 5yr old would love to go fossil hunting and charmouth is the place to do it , the beach is littered with them every time the tide goes out . Lyme regis is a lovely little town with loads of nice pubs and cafes.
The best camping stuff I ever bought was a small folding chair and a folding table - trying to cook on the ground is ok but it can be uncomfortable .angie_baby wrote: »Does anyone know what the campsites in Swange, Dorset are like??Started my own business and loving being my own boss

Noticed in Aldi among other camping items a really good camping/kitchen stove unit at £14.99 looks very handy. A B & Q building dept. tarpaulin could be handy0

Thanks
Angie

Camping is great fun - especially for kids. Some friends stayed here last year and we visited them

It was really nice for kids with a swimming pool and had a pub so that you didnt have to cook if you didnt want to0 -
Ok, have decided, we are going to stay at Woodyhide, close to the Harmans Cross train station.
Just need to get the last few bits, i am so excited, more so than joe!!!
Have been collecting tomatoe sauce/sugar/salt/pepper bits - even though my dad is calling me sad and telling me it would be easier to buy a bottle. He doesnt understand my money saving!!!0 -

Great campsite for watching the steam trains! They do cheap evening rambler tickets if you fancy a ride to Swanage or Corfe Castle for the evening. Enjoy your holiday.0

Going camping in a couple of weeks for the first time - but my partner is experienced so hopefully she will lead the way.
Bit worried we'll be under equipped, but never mind. Adds to the experience doesn't it! lol. Heading off for 2 days, need to find somewhere to stay too...
We should have a MSE Camping Club! lol.0
