I have been using Voipgain to make outgoing calls for a few weeks now. Recently I have had 2 people complaining about poor sound quality when I call them. Sound breaking up is something they complain of and I have noticed that I am struggling to hear them because of low volume.
The 2 people concerned both have Sky landlines. Speaking to people with BT landlines the call quality at both ends is fine. Has anyone else noticed this or does anyone have any suggestions as to what can be done?
I have Virgin Media's 30Mb broadband package and use Voipgain's iPhone app to access their service.0 -
There are often gateway issues between VOIP and the local exchange at the other end. I think it is because some companies can't really be bothered to cooperate with each other well. So you always need a 'backup' system, I use 18185 as a backup for Skype when this happens. One thing is for sure: You will never get any company to own up to responsibility for these quality issues.0

Sipgate do allow you to register your details so they're sent to the emergency services should you need to call 999/112 via them. Voipgain looks like yet another Betamax clone so it's pretty safe to say they won't carry ermergency calls. If your ATA can register with more than one provider, can you set the dial plan to route 112, 999, 080* and 0500 to Sipgate, all other calls to Voipgain?0

Does anyone know how to run off the caller ID with voipgain?
I have it setup with a PAP2T and it works grand, but I cant seem to find the option to turn off caller ID, it says its in your personal details but I just can't find it.
Anyone know?Sigless0 -
Bloomin heck, I thought voip calls were cheap. Made a 5 min call to an 0844 number using voipgain just now and got charged £2.50.
Site says it's 0.079p per minute to 0844 numbers. What a pile of crap.
Or did I read that totally wrong and it's actually 79p per minute?Sigless0 -
Ah getting some experience with Betamax products then?0

I also got some problem after recently switching to voipgain: I made two short calls (less than 10min) to China this month (supposed to be free) - both got charged for exceeding FUP:-(
I cannot seem to find their FUP details (such as monthly/daily/single_call limits) - anyone knows?Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
