Thanks Noah for your lovely message. x

Soo.... Results day... dd needed BBB for her place at uni and got...
ABB...:T She was still having very mixed feelings about going to uni but seems to be getting to the right place now and has even started packing a box...:D

I am going to miss her dreadfully but do want her to go now, if she deffered i don't think she has any thoughts as to what she would do for the year and then probably wouldn't go at all... So in theory she heads off in 3 weeks time..

The downside to this is the cost of course.. we don't qualify for anything extra and the Maintenance loan doesn't even cover the accommodation... I have this planned as I will finish my lovely mother loan in 5 months and have saved 3 months top up rent already.... so I can then pay it to rent rather than lovely mother... shame won't get the dmp paid off any quicker.... and in fact might be slowed down depending on how much OH is prepared to donate each month.. she will need to eat, travel and do some social as well... dd is loaded of course and knowing her will come out of uni with most of her own money in tact...!!

Lots of shopping to do over the next few weeks, the list is endless......we will all be chipping in to pay for it, OH is in charge of the laptop, lovely mother is giving dd some cash and even my dad has said he will send me a cheque to help.... So I will keep you posted on how it all goes...

No other money news... still hanging onto my birthday cash and cards.....did pay for lovely mother and my holiday today but had that saved up and just deduct lovely mother's share from what I owe her.. think it may be my last holiday for some time.....who knows......

    Have a lovely weekend.

Anyone feeling a little warm today.....:rotfl:

I am so glad I ran around at the beginning of the month so haven't had to go and run in this heat.... I am computering... and will go into the office tomorrow and am off friday... I believe the weather then returns to normal so I can finish my visits tues/weds next week.... I am then going to take 5 days off before dd goes to uni, not sure which days yet we are planning it later..

We are hitting the shops on friday for the bedding/kitchen/toiletry shop and have the opticians this afternoon.. its going to be an expensive end to the month.... still got £220 in the bank and payday friday... have £150 nectar points to spend at sainsbobs, lovely mum gave £50 and waiting for cheque from dad..... I do have access to other savings but I am hoping we don't need to spend all my pennies......

That's about it.. oh night out saturday with by best friend.. always nice and prepaid out of our bank account...

  • Exciting times for you all, Puzz:j. Pricey though:(. Still, it's only once that DD leaves home for Uni:)

Yes, I'm with you on the heat. I really hate it. I'm a cold-weather girl;). I can always put on another layer or two. There's nothing left that I dare strip off in this heat without fear of being arrested:rotfl:

I feel really ashamed and annoyed with myself after sorting though some boxes of stuff for a car boot sale the other day. One of these boxes hadn't seen the light of day for several years:o. It had been right at the back of the garage buried under other stuff. I'm not such a !!!!!! in the house;). Tucked in among a lot of books was an envelope containing £25 Sainsbury vouchers:j. I must have got them from a survey site redemption or something. There's no expiry date on them but they look very old fashioned somehow. I reckon they date from about 2008:eek:. It's so unlike me not to spend vouchers pretty soon after getting them. I'm wondering if Sainsbury's will still honour them. My nearest store is a round trip of 35 miles away so I don't want to waste my petrol if it's unlikely. I worry about embarrassment at the checkout too:o

cbc, its exciting and terrifying at the same time for both of us... I am sleeping really badly as I expect is dd, but fingers crossed all will go fine..!!

why not give sainsbobs customer services a ring and ask about the vouchers? Maybe if you could post them back to them they could reissue as nectar points? Just a thought... I do hate wasting money....

And I'm sure your house is lovely.. mine is a right tip.. that's my job's once I'm home alone most of the time...

Downside to putting your money into different 'pots'.... breaking down on a double yellow the day before payday and your card being declined to the RAC as sainsburys order being delivered within the same hour taking the money..... oops... luckily the lovely RAC man followed me home... 2 roads along.. and I quickly moved money from car account to normal account.. phew... what a day... what a place to break down....

He suggested oil is quite a good thing to have in the engine.. but the reason I broke down was the battery had died.... all up and functioning again now at the pricey sum of £103.... sort of held to ransom really.. but hey.. I had the money, just in the wrong account and unfortunately the day before payday and the day after spending £125 on new glasses for dd...

Big shopping day tomorrow.. wish me luck...

    :j Happy Friday... and Payday.....:j

So updated my dmp and the figures now stand at

£40835.15... 32.1% PAID.. I much preferred the 40's to the 60's where we started and 2 more payments and i will hit the 30's... alright top end I know but so... :j

Mum loan is now down to £875..... 4 months and that will be gone.. as long as the old car can keep going... pretty please...

Off today to go shopping.. wonder what time dd will get up... and if it will be before the shops close..:rotfl: Washing is already on the line, banking down and now off to make a cup of tea, prod dd and then clean the bathroom... oh I know how to live.....!!!

  • I know exactly what you mean about the joy and achievement of reaching the 30s etc. It's like the retailers' ploy of pricing things at £9.99 instead of £10 etc. Sounds so much less;)

I did a few virtual cartwheels last month when I dipped just below £30000. However little below the 30s I am, the 20s sound so much better. I only owe £29607 I say to myself with a smile. That's still a massive amount of debt and would really scare many people but considering what it used to be I feel euphoric about it:j

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend. I hope the sun shines on whatever you're doing:beer:

So big spends yesterday and I don't doubt I will be spending lots more over the next few weeks..... but we have made a start and that is good...!

I have also made a decision... I am paying this month's dmp as usual but I am going to drop to token payments of £5 per creditor for the 2 months following. I don't yet know how the finances are going to balance out, or when things like accommodation has to be paid for but do know that I will need £1629 for the 'year'. I already have £600 which should cover the first term. So in order to have it ready I will save £1110 from not paying properly for 2 months and then can hopefully continue at the same rate as now. I don't really want to drop my monthly payments down so this seems a logical move and will only lengthen my dmp by 2 months.. I will finish paying lovely mother in the new year so should be able to start saving that up for the future years.. well that's the current plan anyway..

    I'm sure I dream money....

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are..

Just had a quick catch up Puzz
and well done to DD on her fab results and getting her place at uni:j:T

Its a spendy time for sure getting them ready to go to uni! I really struggled after my DD left, it is so hard to let go...I really feel for you. But DD has grown in so many ways and has become a very confident young lady so I console myself with that thought :)

    Hi Noah,

Thank you for your kind words, I am well aware that I am going to miss my dd very much as you did yours, I am getting a little fed up of certain people in my office who seem to 'rub it in'.. not sure why there is the need for that personally.... hey ho.. folks are odd sometimes....The good news is having been in the office since 7.30 this morning I am not going again until next monday..:D
