Royal mail consultation on increasing small parcel size

I don't know how they got on in my local post office yesterday.
I got there at just after 9am and they were all in tears as one of their colleagues had died on Sunday
Clearly it wasn't a good day for something new to be introduced, and if anyone was overcharged yesterday, it would be understandable under the circumstances.
They are really good in my post office, and this loss will hit them hard. It was so sad in there yesterday.Early retired - 18th December 2014

So glad I read this thread, I didn't realise if you could pull the parcel through the slot then it would be fine
I've been having to upgrade letter size to large letter as some wouldn't pull through.

I'm not sure what this refers to. I think you may have misread something.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -

This was what I was thanking
Can anyone else corroborate this? I haven't been informed anything like this?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -
I find that there seems to be no uniformity between Post Offices or even between staff in the same one. Before April the template in my usual PO was in front of the counter and they used to let me squeeze parcels through the large letter slot, but after the changes the template was behind the counter and some staff use the "free-fall" method and some use the "push-pull" method. I'm a nervous wreck waiting to be served wondering which assistant I'm going to get!0

Ah ok I won't start switching across just yet then. I thought that it went to a machine in the sorting office somewhere and that decided if it was too big or not. I know previously I'd been warned when in Cardiff that it was better to put the bigger stamp on it "just in case". I don't want my buyers complaining over 19pDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I've had a packet jam in the LL gauge at the counter but the guy asked what to do and his colleague said, "if you're in a good mood let it go" so he stamped my stamps and sent it.
It does depend on the angle they present the packet to the gauge if it's going to go through.
Today I received something I bought on eBay, should easily have been a letter size. (Had she sent me the actual item in the photo...!) She packed it in a plastic tub and jiffy bagged that so she paid £4.10 postage. Would have, should have been £1.70 signed for. :eek:0
