Apparently staff aren't allowed to "announce" it until Monday when it goes live!

Its defo Monday - every post office i go in tells me - and shows me the template box they have to drop it into.

One PO told a guy not to post his Ebay item yesterday - as it would be much cheaper Monday - so he took it home. Not good advice knowing how nasty buyers can be if their items are delayed.

    Hapy days though :T

It's very clever though when you think about it....

Before the changes you could send a 2nd class packet up to 750gm for £2.20 without too much of a size restriction. Now you will have to pay £2.60 with a size restriction. Great way to increase prices and get people thinking it's a reduction LOL

Think your going back a step - before Aprils price rises.

This move lowers prices - £2.20 was already long gone.

I was in my local Post Office yesterday and was also told that these changes were coming in next Monday 28th.

It's been posted on the eBid Forums as well with a scan of the leaflet showing new Small parcel sizes.

    Will certainly help me :)

    Royal Mail Announcement:

After listening to their customers Royal Mail has extended their Small Parcel sizes. Available from the 28th October two maximum sizes are available – offering both a WIDE and a DEEP option for exactly the same price.

Royal Mail’s WIDE Small Parcel option is ideal for sending flatter items such as handbags, clothing or board games.

Their DEEP Small Parcel option is just the ticket if you’re sending bulkier items such as kitchen gadgets, footwear or electrical goods.

With two sizes on offer, Royal Mail Small Parcels offers even better value. Prices start from just £2.60 for Second Class deliveries under 1 kilo, or £3.00 for First Class deliveries under 1 kilo.

Whether your parcel is WIDE or DEEP you can enjoy the convenience of sending it online through Britain's most trusted delivery company*.

To find out more about Royal Mail’s maximum dimensions visit https://www.royalmail.com/newsmallparcel
    ..

That was sent in an email from Play

I was given this in my local post office today. I was told it will applicable from Monday onwards.

  • I thought the changes were that they were going to increase the depth from 8cm to 16cm with the width and length staying the same but according to the new leaflet the width would be reduced to 25cm instead if sending a parcel with a 16cm depth. It would of been better keeping the same measurements and just increasing the depth instead of having two small parcel sizes!!
