It builds up so the odd time is probably fine but regular feeding can cause severe damage and even kill.
it's fairly debatable

the same vets who over vaccinate?
I give garlic as flea prevention. It's a common misconception that garlic will kill a dog, it will if they eat about a thousand of them in one sitting but same could be said with anything.
OT as a treat I would make liver cake as suggested, dogs LOVE it. Be careful with quantities though or you'll get runny poo.
I give my dog raw liver 'ice cubes' he loves them.0 -
My 6 year old sheltie has been getting liver cake since he was a pup and so far he's okay, Arran has only been wormed about 3 times in his life and that's when it's been mentioned at the vets and I buy it cause they make me feel guilty
, neither Arran nor my other dog who I've had for just over 2 years have ever had worms or fleas and I'm putting that down to the garlic in their diet. 0 -

I think you are mixing up fleas with those other well known blood suckers that are affected by garlic.

My vet advised me to give garlic as a flea preventative too. Also to allow the dogs to swim in sea water to deter fleas - apparently the salt water on the dogs' skin puts fleas off.0 -

Well that's funny how out of all the raw feeders I know who give garlic daily and have done for years and years, not one dog has been harmed.0 -

They might not, but I do if I'm carrying it around in my pockets for training treats. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Exactly! And I'm a raw feeder myself, but I do draw the line at raw meat in my pocket out on walks. Dehydrated liver, chicken, fish, etc. as well as liver cake and similar treats make up the majority of my dogs' treats, they're still smelly and tasty, but a lot more convenient.0 -
liver cake is great to carry around in that case, or dehydrated liver.
I bought some treats on ebay that Logan went crazy for, liver, aniseed and garlic drops they were dried. Could try create something like that perhaps.0
