I'm never buying another car again!

Ten years ago all cars on autotrader had PAS - Power Assisted Steering - listed, now none do!

No way i'm buying a new car with no power steering.

And even more years ago, when a heated rear window was not the norm, the adverts also used to list "HRW" if a heated rear window was fitted.
Back in the dark ages when a HRW was never fitted Smiths sold a stick on kit for d.i.y. installation. Included a "silver" maze like element, wiring, switch and warning lamp.

Yes, i remember those - the 'stick on' silver maze!

    Passenger side mirrors too.

    Rear parcel shelves!

Wheel trims, instead of the bare steel wheels.

    Headrests

    Rear seat belts

I guess more recently - electric windows and aircon.

How times change, i remember having one of those plastic stick-on heaters.
The first car i got when i was 17 was an old Moggy Minor and that even had a starting handle that you put through a hole in the front bumper.

One less thing to go wrong.

One of my cars, a 1997 Mk1 MX5 has no power steering, and it's a little stiff to park, but once over 10 mph, you'd never know or care.

Oh aye. I know. I'd a 1994 Peugeot 306 diesel with no PAS. Oddly someone had spec'd it with metallic paint and an electric sunroof, both of which would have cost more than PAS.

Our expectations were different then though
