If you get a free coffee I assume you have a 'My Waitrose' card. That will show you as a long, loyal customer I'm sure, and that will help head office along. When you write to them give your card number so they can see you're a regular/spender!

Or it might show that the OP only buys the reduced stuff and gets the free coffee in which case they might not care if they never return.

Wonder if they can block the card, or even put a note on it to say the OP is banned from the store?

It's a little unfair to label the whole store because of the behaviour of one employee, isn't it? I would write to the store manager with the facts and expect an apology.

Waitrose doesn't want YS hunters in their stores, which is why they keep reduced food in the original sections. YS shoppers don't buy premium range products.

You didn't like the way Waitrose treated you and I can understand why.

I don't like kids playing football in the aisles, running around around barefoot screaming, sitting on the floor picking their nose and eating it, having a poo or stealing but I doubt ASDA would do more than shrug their shoulders and say if you don't like it..
  • So if he 'saw' you changing the stickers, why didn't he question you then or when you were wandering around the shop or before you got in the queue to pay? Instead he waited until you'd paid and were about to leave the shop? If he really thought you were stealing he would have/should have done something quickly & quietly before you bought the product! That along with the fact that he confronted you in front of the whole shop & didn't want to check the CCTV suggests that he's just a jobsworth on a bit of a power trip!

Personally I'd write a complaint to the manager of the shop and to the head office. Even if they won't say anything about the fact that you're now apparently a 'thief' they should at least confront him about his unprofessional behaviour and apologise for the way he treated you.

    .

your Waitrose obviously works different to mine. They have a dedicated "reduced" section in a fridge near the front of store, and if they have lots of fruit/vegetables or bread to reduce they will put it in a trolley and leave it near the front door.

He would not do anything until you have paid for it or tried to leave the store without paying as until that point you have not done anything wrong in the eyes of the law. The "crime" happens when you either go through the till or leave the store.

I use two Waitrose stores one in the next town and one near my mother in the next county and neither has an actual reduced section.

Not really a loss though is it though to loose a customer who religiously goes in to buy goods at below wholesale prices (and a free coffee?)!

How would they 'loose' a customer?

I always think the lowest form of poster is one who likes to pick other posters up on spelling mistakes. It's very petty and childish.
