If it has yet to hit your area and you are hesitating, get in right now before your market leaves you too.
    Uh-huh.

Or, y'know, you could wait until it's the right time for you to buy, and you find the right place.

    Vested interest, much?

Errr no....just a bit politer than my first thought when I noticed that this desired house will be a "holiday home":(. I'll be controlled enough not to type that....

Lesson from my economics course years ago...."Laws of supply and demand". Greater demand for a commodity that is in limited supply means that commodity will sell for a higher price....

But sympathies are due to those who are trying to buy a "Home" (as in their one and only roof-over-head).

No, my area isn't booming and I'd be worried if it was.

That would mean it was going the way of the 'popular' places, with too many tourists and holiday homes.

Believe it or not, most of us won't be moving any time soon. When we do, most of us will be buying into the same market, 'on fire,' or merely smouldering.

But for the vast majority, it won't be this year, next year, or even the year after that.

Sorry for you. Must be extremely stressful.
  • Errrm....post 10 (by OP)....he DOES have property already.

He stated he is looking for a holiday home. Hence, he already has a home and wants a second one as well.

Hence the comments by Davesnave and myself.

To get this thread back on track..... I live in the south and near me I haven't noticed quick selling. Sure those properties that go on the market at a reasonable price sell fairly quick but I'm talking weeks rather than days.

Hmmmm..... Regulars who post in Debate have somewhat different rules and agendas for their discussions than the majority who post here.

For some, it's more like Second Life. ;)

(Though there are some jolly fine fellows over there too! :A)

Just like everywhere on t'interweb, it's best not to assume too much, at least to begin with.

Where I live in the SE (think Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells area) even the craps selling quickly, mostly at asking prices.

Regarding the OP, I think you have to take him with a pinch of salt. He seems to be widely regarded as a troll on the 'other' Forum.

I am looking to buy a house in London though in the zone 5/6 areas. The way I see it whatever will be... will be and I won't be pressured to go with a place I'm not completely happy with just because sales appear to be picking up (which EAs keep telling me at viewings).
If the properties become unaffordable then I can either buy outside London or buy a maisonette close to work. But at least I'm saving more money in the mean time whilst I wait for the right property.

What I have noticed though is estate agents bumping ads on previously sold properties. Eg a few days ago on zoopla (mobile), there were over 10 properties from the same EA marked as sold...but I recognized most of them(seen them on right move before on stc) so knew they sold over 2 months ago. Rather cheeky of them trying to fuel the public frenzy/fear.

you should debate your market view on the board

It's not my 'view' as you put it - it is my observation of the facts.

This is the House Buying Forum ..... and I'm not debating whether there is a bubble being pumped, it is happening.

If I can help and advise anyone for whom the bubble has not yet reached, then I will. I wish I had been warned of this bubble 3 months before it hit where I want to buy!

I'm offering that insight to those contemplating buying in an area of still depressed House prices ...... to give them a head start, I would hate myself for not passing on my knowledge to those thinking whether the market has bottomed and should they buy.

I have lost out by waiting, I'm sad about that - but it still doesn't stop me wanting to help others.
