I understand that you have "been away" for some time. Remember to keep taking the meds, or I suspect that you'll soon be going away for a while again."When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -

Where I live the number of houses on the market has unusually low since the early part of the year, and this is largely what has pushed up prices. Panic buying has taken place in some cases - largely the sort of houses that couples with kids buy - 4 bedroomed etc. Two and three bedroomed houses have not been selling as well.
this seems to be the reverse in my area,
it could be down to a lot of new builds mostly along the coast, but I have noticed a lot of them going up "to let" lately
wages just don't reflect the house prices for the larger homes so the smaller 3 bed ex local authority ones are selling better than ever, but even they are on the market a few months , nothing seems to be moving at the moment around here, although we did have a bit of a flurry earlier in the year ,0 -
Yes we put our offer in in May. Ultimately I believe that our Vendor would have tried to gazump us on Exchange day if there was any real huge profit to be made from it. But they didn't.
Yes, houses are moving fairly quick, even in Eastleigh. And I do believe this is a valid debate. But when it's being led by someone telling other people they "need help" I always find it best to hold up my hands up and walk away because it's never going to be entirely rational is it

I could show you lots where they didn't even take photo's or print any details off which have sold higher than asking price.
If they havent been advertised how do you know this? Or do you work for an estate agent?
Just sold my house in Kent a week after signing the sales contract with the estate agent, indeed it sold before it was even advertised on the internet But it was a typical FTB house. On the other hand though we never had a problem with the 3-4 bedroom properties we were looking at selling before we could look at them and also the property we have just had our offer accepted on was way below the asking price.
Looking back at our favourites list on zoopla and rightmove many of them are still for sale. From my experience FTB properties seem to be moving quicker but the rest of the market hasnt picked up that quickly.0 -
Everything selling here....and im pretty !!!!sed about it...im looking to buy a bigger gaff and was hoping for a crash. OK my house I purchased for 220k in 2005 is now sell-able at 360k but everything else is going up around me aswell. The cheapest detached is around 500k. Yay, fill your boots with mortgage debt. A lifetime of servitude awaits as slowly, day by day, life as a debt slave takes you farther and farther away from anything that is meaningful or real.0

the winners are those of us who bought our homes way back when a good semi was around 7k , couldn't afford to move so stayed put ,
now we are reaping the rewards for putting up with kids having to share a room, no personal space , the house feeling cramped and kids getting bigger,
at least they are some winners in this crazy housing market0 -
Winners are those who bought 50 years ago, 40, 30, 20, 10 ...... and those who buy in 2013 - it's just how it's always been and will continue to be.
If this Forum is still going in 30 years the newbies will be moaning about the silly £1million prices for Studio Flats, when those who bought today at £80,000 are considered 'winners'Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0
