    wenger08, just put that jackplug into an mp3 player, or mobile and slowly turn up the volume while playing music. Of you hear nothing then then something is wrong on the speaker side, rather then the pc

    What about the rest of the info under that tab?

    If you can't get the requested info, refer to the first two pictures here

    Here is the latest version of their Drivers list. You can use the Realtek Audio at the top of the list and the .zip version of VGA near the bottom.

    I would suggest at this point, if Windows update, install additional hardware software in reference to the missing drivers, and unable to download from manufacturer;

    Best bet is to get someone tech savvy you know to take a look, or take the PC base unit into a PC shop.

    What needs to be done is fairly straightforward, but the way this thread is going, seems to be baffling you more, and may lead to you breaking something, and making the issue worse, to the point of re-reinstalling xp again.

    If you are unsure, and not getting anywhere, please follow this advice! They may even do it for free! If/When you know how to do it properly, it's easy, but explaining via text can be difficult and misunderstood. Some people just don't get on with their machine.

    ((I installed a new mobo in my Mums compy, and no sound, no drivers, they crashed on install - lots of messing about - including emailing the mobo manufacturer in China, external soundcard installed, onboard disabled, job done! So what can seem simple, can be more than it seems, even for tech savvy, and the mobo manufacturer couldn't explain why their onboard didn't work.))

    Good luck! Let us know how you get on....
