Like it or not, cats are more athletic than humans, and occasionally they're smarter too.
any human that isn't as smart as a cat is thick. its a cat, not einstein
get a big dog, or several big dogs. problem solved. failing that a rifle.

    I rest my case. :)

(By the way, this thread is going roughly the same way they go on Greenfingered. :rotfl:)

We seem to have a real big problem not far from me , loads of cats have been poisoned by antifreeze , its costing cat owners hundreds of pounds in vets bills, plus the cats still die from it.........Not a nice way to die...

Police are involved , but nobody can see how on earth they are going to catch the people doing it...........Normally police put letters through the householders doors saying whats going on, but how can you make a cat stay in when its a outside cat.?, Glad ive got a dog which dont roam..............

Re the cat that "beat up" other cats and problem solved....I'd just like to know whether its possible to work out which cats are going to be more "territorial" than others and be cute/cuddly kitty for their owners, but "holy terrors" for any other cats trying to come onto "their" territory:rotfl:

Also presupposes that any cat I got would be bright enough to work out "This is the garden of my missus and so its my territory and that's everyone else's gardens..so not my territory"....

    Hmmmm....

Mind you...I'd never heard that comment about hissing at marauding moggies anywhere before and duly tried it out just now when I spotted one of the neighbourhood moggies nearby. It ran so fast that I barely spotted the going of it....Now got my eye out for a recent feline addition to the neighbourhood that seems to be quite convinced that the whole neighbourhood is its territory and beats up any and every other cat I spot near it (aka Psycho Cat). If it works with Psycho Cat it will work with any cat.

I think I'll remember that little trick for future reference.:)
  • OP if the problem is really bad ,which from what you say it is, you could try, your local council and ask about the environmental agency in your area

"The Environmental Protection Act of 1990 also makes provision to intervene in cases where cats cause significant nuisance in their local area in terms of noise, fouling gardens, and smells"

also I believe it is quite within your right use cat traps and then hand the cats over to the owners or the RSPA, in some areas this is encouraged and in some cases the RSPA will provide the traps
feral cats can then be caught and neutered

    HTH

    RSPCA.... Don't think so.

From their web site: "We collect sick or injured stray cats but identifying genuine strays is a challenge and due to lack of resources we do not normally collect healthy stray cats."

Surely by now, it's becoming clear that making the area unattractive is the better option here, albeit at a cost. Much of that could be labour, available free if the residents are motivated and organised.
