Got a zoo near you? If so, scrounge some lion dung - honest. The cats won't come around if they think there's a really big cat around.

Alternatively an decent jet of water from a hose or from a super soaker type water pistol or, as a last resort, a CATapult ;-)

I fear there is little you can do to deter the cats, apart from keeping watch 24/7 with a water pistol at the ready & aim at them as soon as they come near the pebbles. Water is something that the majority of cats loathe.

I spent a fortune on every deterrent going a few years back as one of neighbour's cats did his business on the roof of my extension & most of the shingle stuff was almost gone thanks to him & of course my roof was getting damaged by him using it as his private toilet.

I bought an electronic deterrent, Lion Dung, tried the citrus trick as well as long hose that looked like a snake, gel deterrents, the plants that cats are supposed to hate & so on & so on. The only result of all this was me getting rapidly poorer & even more stressed while puss continued to leave me smelly deposits.

I got out of the situation by having a new flat roof installed because of the condition of the old one thanks to Mr pusscat & getting the house on the market straight away. Thankfully it sold within a couple of hours of being on the market & boy did I look forward to completion day & be able to have a future where I didn't have to keep climbing out of my bedroom window onto the roof to shovel up the deposits.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • I suppose the noise is not that great either ,although dogs do business in a very different way you would imagine a dog would be loud like a market stall holder rag bone especially bone they would cry ,where as our average cat a little more reserved and aloof kind of like a French waiter running a stall in an over priced farmers market ' buy my cream if you like if not I don't care '
However when it comes to real business nous it has to be meerkats they really can sell product ,ask Martin he will tell you !
  • no the gun is for incentivising the cat to leave the area. I must stress I am an animal lover, I love dogs etc and have pets but cats are a total pita to everyone, did see one lose a battle with an hgv yesterday morning though, so an hgv is an alternative to a gun tho a little harder to store

I greatly prefer cats to people like you. Animal lover my a**

You're an animal lover who hates cats, cats arent a total PITA to everyone, anyone suggesting shooting a cat or who thinks its good when one is killed on the road, isnt an animal lover.

I hope none of your pets ever get killed on the road, one of my relatives cats was killed by a car last year, she was two years old.

Im amazed by your comments but sadly not surprised.
  • If anyone has shared a bond with a cat, as a pet, they'll know how magical and wonderful they can be.

Anyway, putting that to one side, if you have a problem with cats - assuming they're not feral and do belong to pet owners, contact your HA and see if they can do anything about it. Other route might be the local council environmental health. Perhaps they have a 'cat pee/poo removal' department. :p

Sincerely hope not! That's my council tax you're talking about!
  • Cats are looking for loose materials to bury their leavings.

-A fine chicken mesh laid over these and secured by tucking into the soil and under the turf means that they can't move the stuff and will find another spot.

-Buy some cheap plastic sheet, rigid, and glue the stones( Blue Peter style) on to that so it looks the same but can't be moved.

We had problems with neighbourhood cats until our Cat chose us ( long story) and she basically beat them up and they stayed away.

Buy a block cat, big, and with tattoos?:rotfl:
Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.
