Budgeting Loan

Ok so had a little look round but couldnt find anything recent.
I have applied for a budgeting loan, i have 2 children aged 4 and 2
Yes I am looking ( A LOT) for a job
no I dont have sky tv or i dont drink or smoke. (seen these comments on previous threads about other people)
I am myself only sleeping on a mattress and my youngest is still in her cot bed, with not a propper mattress, and a very thin summer duvet (for age 12 months) so i am wanting a budgeting loan to update these.
i have send my forms off (first class envelope) on tuesday (10th)
I was wanting to know timescales as i forgot from my last attempt (2 years ago, only about £20 left to pay, i pay £10 weekly)
and what I am entitled to.
thanks

Explanation of budgeting loans here:
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/technical-guidance/sb16-a-guide-to-the-social/budgeting-loans/
There is a maximum amount which can be awarded (in your case - a parent with children) which is also dependent of whether you already have an outstanding amount, your ability to repay and whether your local council has the funds)
Can't help with the exact amount or the time scale (perhaps others can)
The things you mention that you need (bed/bedding) could also be obtained another way (save you paying back/if you are refused)
Have you tried asking CAB for any charities that supply furniture?
Have you tried Freecycle? I often see beds and duvets on there. People give away the most amazing things (usually of good quality too)0 -
Yep freecycle in our area always beds of all sizes on. Also Asda have got single 13.5tog duvets on offer at the moment for £8.0

It might be worth giving your local Salvation Army a call, to see if they can help you with funding for new household items. If they can't help, they will probably know which charities can help in your area.
It seems hard on you to take a loan when there could be help available to get you through the next few years.
As an aside, the Salvation Army often do Christmas parcels too, of new toys and basic food items, for low income families with children. Not usually anything amazing, but it all helps.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

The problem is, there is not much money to give out anymore, the criteria is far stricter than it used to be. For instance, unless you have a health condition that requires a full bed, a mattress is normally deemed adequate to sleep on.
Speak to your local council, they will be able to advise of any furniture projects in your area - many of whom will deliver at little or no cost.
Are you near Rotherham?

I believe the current cap is £812. You should receive a reply within a week and the money within a week after that. Plus a day or two. The whole thing should not take more than three weeks.
Repayment levels are similar (and will be done is series, that is, you will continue to just repay the current old loan. Once that is repaid you will(may) have a fortnight or two before the new loan is starts taking payments.)
(Mind you, I think Kayester is ignoring me. So she/he will not receive this information. Heigh ho.)0 -
(By the way, if sleeping on a mattress, do make sure you lift it up and rest it up against a wall at least every other day to air the carpet and avoid ruining them with damp.)0

You don't say where you are from so I don't know what charities are close to you. A budgeting loan sounds like an excellent idea however. You also sound like you're in a situation these loans and other help were designed to facilitate. Can't for a moment see why you wouldn't qualify for all the help you can get, especially with the wee one to think about too.0

thanks, im from conisbrough, part of doncaster council
thanks for the tip and why did you say i was ignoring you please?
thanks for the advice ive just taken a look at that (im not part of rotherham council though, and no beds on there)
Ok, phone the St Vincent de Paul Society in Doncaster on 01709 858 033, tell them you were directed there for help, explain the situation to them and see what they can do. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Don't fall for the old "you need to be Roman Catholic" for help from the SVP - it's not true.
I can see you really need help and people in a position to help you will soon realise you are genuine.0
