No, the iPhone 5 was £529 and the iPhone 5S will be £549, both for the basic 16GB version.

when they first come out the iphone 5 was £499 in the apple store.

several other external retailers sold it for the same price too.

anyway thats really not the point.

the point is mobile phone companies and retailers certainly seem to be in cahoots with each other and not giving the customers the best deal they can.

especially o2. having been a loyal customer for 16 years i have found that i'm not that valued any longer.

they wont match any slightly competative deal i've shown them.

If competitive deals are referring to iPhones then what has changed? Networks have never competed on the iPhone as much as other models and until iOS market share drops and Apple cut prices this will remain the same. For every one person who says "no, that is too expensive" there will be 5 more in line who say it is fine and the price stays.

Networks want either big spenders or low users (both is the ideal) and anything else they want to convert to one of the above. If you wont fork out the price they are happy enough for dealers to fight over you who work on lower margins.

Rather than feeling tied to your network or that you are owed the best price take what benefits you and you alone. Loyalty equals nothing and tenure counts for squat if you are a low spender.
  • Found a site called cashparison dot com that compares the iphone 5c and gives cashback too maybe of use to someone
