May as well buy a google nexus 4 16gb now on offer at 199.99 on google play 80.00 off ,sim only with 3 with 2000 mins mobile and phone 2000 texts and as much data as you want for 15.00 p.m.contract 12 months0

It's ridiculous. The iPhone 5c is a rebadged iPhone 5 with a plastic back. Yet every single contract is over £35pm+ with an upfront cost. If you want a high usage contract you're looking over £40pm+ with at least £30-£100 upfront.
You can get an iPhone 5 for much much less than that. If these are the iPhone 5c prices i don't want to see how much people are going to pay for the 5s.
The iPhone 5C has camera improvements, supports more LTE bands and has better battery life.
So it might be plastic, but it has superior internals to the 5.What will your verse be?

An improved front facing camera is meh. The iPhone 5 camera is already good.
It has 1-2 hour extra battery life in certain tasks but the same battery life in other tasks. So meh again.
LTE bands is the only plus i can think of. But is it really worth an extra £5-10pm a month + upfront cost for all that.
It's like buying the Galaxy S2 for £20pm and the Galaxy S2 Plus for £30pm.... ridiculous.0 -

An extra day on standby though. The camera improvement is only meh if you don't use it - some will, other's won't. The phone isn't for everyone and you don't have to want it.
That doesn't mean it's a rip off just because you don't like it thoughWhat will your verse be?

No... It's a rip off because it's a rebadged iPhone 5. The fact it's using cheaper external materials really should negate the cost of the bigger battery and slightly better front facing camera (not superior internals one year on, esp when the difference is going to be £5 max manufacturer cost for those 2 items). Especially one year on. Yet the iPhone 5c is being forced onto consumers at a much higher price than the iPhone 5 now, let alone what the iPhone 5 cost at launch.
It's a fact that the networks are overcharging for this device by far, even on 3G tariffs.0 -

I think the biggest reason why it should be a bit cheaper is because the 5C is made using completely automated, unstaffed production lines, so it's not like Apple has to pay any staff for their factories. What will your verse be?

Everything this person said.
If you have to buy the device and pay monthly, then an "anytime upgrade" style plan is the only way to do it, at least that way you know how much the tariff and phone cost, and you can pay off the phone if you wish.
While I absolutely agree with you and have done this myself so far. Now with this existence of 4g. Is it really that much cheaper over the term if you want a high data usage? I am either calculating it uncorrectly or missing something obvious. It does seem that 4g is pretty expensive.
But do I really need 4g since I am on broadband most of the time?0 -

I'm getting a bit tired of confusion pricing from the mobile industry, which this MSE article falls for.
Tell us how much it costs. It's a 24 month contract, so multiply the monthly price by 24 and add the upfront cost. That's how much you're committing to paying. The only variable is how many mins/texts/etc you get for that.
For example the £7/month T-Mobile deal is actually £518 over 24 months. A basic SIM-only plan is about £5/month for roughly the same number of mins/texts/data, which is £120. So you're paying £398 for the handset. It's not a cheap phone at all.
And don't get me started on the US folks '$99 phone' (small print: $70/month contract required).0 -
I think I finally understand the MSE way on this, the apple blinkered will get the new iphone regardless of cost, so we may as well try and guide them to best (rip off) tariff available.
Like when my dad decided he 'needed' a new TV, as much was we knew he didn't it was order one online for him or he will go asda and pay way more for a lessor spec.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
