Sky+ box and On Demand Connector

Do the new Sky+ boxes they are shipping to new / existing customers come with built in Wi-Fi capability?
And, what is this On Demand Connector? A simple Wi-Fi range extender with a RJ45 (ethernet) inlet to connect to the Sky box or something special (Sky specific)? Anyone knows?
TIA.

Looks like they are but I would check.
Wireless connector is a wifi dongle for the older boxes which connects to the ethernet port. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
We changed to HD last Christmas and bought the wifi box at £20, Sky contacted us a couple of months ago and offered us one for free, we now have a spare in case the other one packs up
. To be honest we only use the wifi for setting the recordings using the Sky + app on my ipad as it saves having to use the remote whilst other people are watching the TV, it also shows when you have a recording clash and suggests ways to solve it. 0 -
Shirley you use the catch up services?

Yes they do. Sky ran out of the older non-wifi stock some time back.dumpallhere wrote: »Do the new Sky+ boxes they are shipping to new / existing customers come with built in Wi-Fi capability?0 -

Typical Sky, dump the old rubbish first and charge for Wifi, still, got a free wifi unit that I can sell on eBay.0 -

Just seems another way of screwing an extra £20 from their loyal customers then offering it for free, or perhaps you have a different opinion.0 -
Since the wi-fi enabled boxes are only the newest available, there are still thousands and thousands which don't have the facility included as standard. Sky are hardly "screwing" anyone for anything; wi-fi is an added extra for the On Demand service which has only recently launched. Only those not currently connected to On Demand are offered the connector free since it is assumed that those already using the service have already connected. I'd say it was a pretty safe assumption.Just seems another way of screwing an extra £20 from their loyal customers then offering it for free, or perhaps you have a different opinion.
Personally, I use Homeplugs to connect my Sky+HD to the internet and I wouldn't use Sky's connector even if they did give it to me for free.0 -
A length of Ethernet cable, or a pair of homeplugs. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
