Traffic Lights
Why are some people so slow at moving away at traffic lights?
You can almost feel they are getting their brain in gear not the car by which time if the lights have been set wrongly or with a very short gap they change again allowing only a couple of cars through.

Waiting you you to crash into the back of them and live a life of luxury from the money they claim off you/your insurance.

I guess it depends what sort of driver you are.
Me,,when i am stopped i put the handbrake on and more than likely go to neutral. To move off, i drop the handbrake and before the clutch bites, i have a good look in mirrors and forward. It all takes time. Of course i have the added overhead of switching between various vehicles which all have different characteristics. I do love a good rear ending though... $$$Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Because they know it infuriates the person behinds them.0

Possibly because they are trying to improve their fuel economy.0

Define "slow"?
I see people who fly away from lights like their life depended on it.
I personally am a bit more proper with driving. I use the handbrake and neutral most of the time, plus the car I currently drive around is an elderly 51 plate 1.3. I'd rather not push the engine too hard.
Kinda makes me pity those who I see on the hard shoulder... especially when it looks like they do push their car to the limit.
You should try owning a pre-1970 classic car. They will teach you how to drive properly rather than rag a car around like a monster.0 -
It's one of my small delights in life when you approach traffic lights just as they turn from red to green and you go sailing past vehicles in the other lane as they slowly pull away.
One other thing while on the subject of lights changing. On more than one occasion recently I have had vehicles not moving off when pedestrian crossing lights are flashing amber and there is nobody on the crossing, they wait until the lights turn to green, what is that about?0 -
Probably because they do not want to get run into by the people from another direction who think that they can still go through because the lights have only just turned red. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Or maybe they are just dim and can not get their brain working quickly!
If this small amount of time lost is important to you, may I suggest you either:
A. Plan your day better to take traffic into consideration.
B. Take a chill pill, driving is not a competitive sport.
