Just a quick question for mums. Had lo weighed and measured today.
She has always been a chunky monkey and in the top 95th + centile for weight so her trend is following the same pattern at 20lb
Length wise she is now 78cm's, that's a 20 cm growth in 2 months! This seems a lot.....I'm not especially tall 5ft 5 and hubby 6ft. Anyone had a lo with similar length at this age, we are almost out of 6-9 months sleepsuits/grobags for the length!
Am worried she's gonna be very very very tall and taken for a lot older when she's still little.

How is the increase in her height plotted on the centile chart; is it following the same centile?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Length is off the chart....0

Both my daughters were very long, and youngest was 95+ for weight. She was always a chunky baby and always "big" and yes, thoughtless people would make comments about her being "slow". She was just normal. She is now 20 and 6ft tall and skinny as a rake.
Oldest daughter was youngest in her class and tallest until about 12, and then stopped growing at 5ft 5".0 -
Well there's not a lot you can do about it if she is :rotfl:
Perhaps she's just having a growth spurt and will slow right down, some children go in fits and starts rather than a steady pace.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
At 2 month length was 75th centile, if she followed this she should now be 63cms long
At 78cms she is where a 10 month old should be on the 99th centile....0 -
Also how many times has she been measured 78cm? They can be notorious for measuring wrongly, especially with a squirmy baby, so there could be a big whack of a difference next time she is measured. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Did the health professional who weighed her have any concerns? I'm sure if they were worried they would have said something and referred you?MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0

We actually saw a paed, she commented on trying to make her go longer between feeds for her weight, but I'm firstly not gonna let her scream for food and secondly she doesn't over eat, often just taking 5-6 ounces...not like she's draining 8 ounces each feed. I did say, well she's long so surely that accounts for some of her weight and that she was following the same trend in that respect.
Lo was lying quite content when measured but I might try to check tomorrow.0 -

It's never been a problem for my DD2. She was off the chart at birth, then had the the cute chubby bit round the top of her legs until she was about 4 and then she started really growing. She's now 14, slim as anything and tall.
Being tall isn't anything to be worried about.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
My DD was 10lb born and 21" long and on 91st centile for weight. Today at 8 and a half years old she is 4ft 6" tall but very very slim. I think my DD is going to be very tall after her great nan with long slim limbs, lucky girl. I know babies that were born 6lbs and turning out as chunky children.0
