  • It's most likely a badly educated and misinformed npower employee who is causing the havoc for the OP. Thus my earlier suggestion the OP should go straight back to npower's Exec complaints team.

    The complaint is now with the Energy ombudsman because it has taken npower more than 8 weeks to resolve. Npower apparantly have a different complaints team for complaints to the ombudsman so it now has to go to a different team. I have already raised it to them and told it will be added to the case notes, whatever that means. They did acknowledge they should not have tried to take another direct debit payment but also claim that Barclays should have blocked it.

    They are talking rubbish.
    Barclays could have blocked payment taken from the cancelled original DD, but they were unable to prevent reinstating the new DD by Npower.
