I got my first slow cooker, loved it, but broke the pot after about 10 years. No more GS so I had to buy the next one, still going strong after 30 years!0

My brother and I got a pair of rollerskates each, paid for with Green Shield stamps.
I remember the Co-op stamps were blue.
My sister and I had our roller skates that way too.
As a 'reward' for passing the 11+ exam my parents gave me a tennis racket that cost the grand total of one book. My friend had a Slazenger racket but I think that was 3 booksI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
My mum used hers to reduced the cost of shopping in the co-op. to keep us amused if you didn't have the big 40 stamp that was used for the full page, she used to get us to stick the individual stamps in one up the right way and then the next one upside down, kept us going for hours lol!
They were the Co-op's own stamps weren't they?
My dad used to get Green Shield stamps with his petrol, he also collected the Esso vouchers for things like table mats & "crystal" wine glasses....the mats had vintage cars on them and we each had a particular one.0 -
I remember those mats. My parents had a full set & they lasted for years. They never wore out and got chucked during a house move after about twenty years of continuous use0

Omg, was only talking about these recently. My dad was a taxi driver when these were out and so we got tons of stamps. I remember my mum sending me out with the books and queuing in the green shield stamp shop on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre for what seemed like forever to trade in for stuff for her. Can't remember anything I collected, but suspect it would have been something householdy.
MemoriesI got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0 -
It was so exciting when they opened an Argos in the city 5 miles away. It was a really exciting day when we went to spent the green shield stamps we had collected from our local Internatinal stores.
My mum bought be Ballerina Sindy it was like all my dreams came true. I still have her even though she has no hands and all the bit and bobs I made for her. My mum treated herself to a yoghurt maker too, very 1970's.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
