Couldn't agree more. Buying a ready meal is no biggy.
But being observant of the use by dates set in place for good reason by food manufacturers is not being paranoid, it's employing simple common sense. Things decay, and things have shelf lives. Eating something 12 hours after the use by date that's been stored, handled and cooked correctly from point of origin probably won't do much harm in nearly all cases. But it is out of date by that point and past its 'guarantee' (by use-by stamp) of being safe to eat so it's at your own peril.
My point, if you read, was relating to the comment that eating ready meals several days past the use by date would not cause any harm. I also made no reference to having paranoia about buying ready meals full stop, I buy them all the time. In date, unless someone else picks my shopping trolley for me.0 -
Grapes fall into the safe mould category of mycotoxins and it is not uncommon to find a grey film around some, however they cannot penetrate the skin and so long as you wash them well yourself you will not come to harm. Certain wines get their flavour from these moulds and if the conditions are right you can get some very expensive vintages.
Do not sell the photo to the paper, you will only make yourself look like an idiot, now, if you had found a dead rat in your coffee that would be a different matter entirely"Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -
I'm dying laughing - mouldy grapes will not give you food poisoning, and even if they did, £100 would 'cover the damage given by my illness?' Funny how a bit of green makes everything better, isn't it?
Pret have acted very well to be honest in even offering you any compensation!
Edit: Everyone please keep a beady eye in their local papers for a picture of an angry man/woman holding a mouldy grape http://apiln.blogspot.co.uk/0 -
