Well, OP hasn't actually stated that this was working perfectly quite recently, but assuming this is the case, a Windows update or other software update could have overwritten a file or changed a registry setting which is preventing the OS from recognizing that the printer is connected. Updating the driver to the latest version will reinstate any required files or registry settings.

If this doesn't work then you could also try uninstalling the printer from the Printers window in Control Panel and then re-adding it.

Is the printer switched on? I mean, has it got a green light on it?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Look though the menus for your particular printer, and set the Properties setting to offline, then to online again. Power the printer off, then turn it on again. Check Properties again.

    Hi there

Reboot, and see if the message reappears. If it does, that's probably the reason for your offline printer.

Try different USB sockets for the printer. If none works, it's a new motherboard.
