My 'money saving' but luxury High speed barge that I justified buying instead of buying a 1.4 astra mk3 (:D my chosen money saving extra car) has broken.
It broke on the M6, and the garage I took it to, (not my usual, but owned by the only bloke at the previous place I used that knew his stuff), thinks it might have seized.
Honda 2.2 iCtdi Deseasal .... Grr.... All my money saving buffer is about to the pillaged.
Will find out more later.

Most unusual for a Honda engine of any description to fail unless severely neglected, really bad luck that.0

Definately NOT neglected, as I service it myself with Fully Synthetic Mobil 1 Deisel spec Oil.
I understand that early cars had issues with cam chain tensioners, and exhaust manifolds cracking, and all sorts of egr issues and problems with emissions kit fitted to outside of engine, causing 'hestitation' .0 -
Maybe it was neglected in its previous life.0

I'm not sure those 2.2 honda diesels have the best reputation do they?
I'd always go petrol with a Honda. In fact, unless a car was on lease/under manufacturers warranty, I'd go petrol anyway.
Diesels have gne from farmyard tech to precision engineering in a decade, and are now an unpaleteable private ownership proposition IMO. Too much to go wrong that's too expensive to fix.0 -
A Civic diesel is a luxury barge? Hmmm..
The 2.2 is generally very reliable. Most of the problems come from clutches and DMFs on this car.
If this is a 'seized' engine, there has to be some kind of neglect or damage that has either caused oil loss or some kind of chain/tensioner or pump failure.
How many miles, and does it have history?0 -

Is it not the same motor in the Accord and the CRV come to think of it?
I'd have guessed the OP's car is an Accord from the barge description.
I do think it will be a strange thing unless it has done moon miles. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Yeah, maybe. Even an Accord is pushing it.
When I think luxury barge, I think 5 or 7 series BMW or E class Merc. Not Japanese compact exec.0 -
I'd say an Accord is aimed squarely at 3 Series, A4 and C-Class buyers to offer them a bit more for their money if they have the option.
The estate looks like a hearse although I appreciate appearances can be deceptive. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Main Dealer Service history before I got it, but to be honest, I half the recomended service intervals, as they seem a bit long to me.0 -

So what is it?
The only issues I can see are with DPFs so maybe you've been very unlucky there...What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
