Why not give them a call (Freephone:0800 731 0200 ) and ask them to check? It won't hurt your file if you do.
On the other hand, I have heard that people get the card and PIN and then get a decline letter, but I do think that's rare - so I wouldn't worry, too much.
Good Luck and tell us how it goes :j
I'm trying not to get excited but was very surprised when I was given £5300 limit. It has already deducted the balance transfer and says its pending. Frightened to call in case it bursts my bubble. :-/0 -
well, check my online account this morning to see if it still existed and to see if everything was the same, lol
This message was displayed at the side of my credit limit/available credit:
Pending transactions
£259.75
What's this?
These are transactions that we have authorised, and will appear on your account in the next few days.
is this a positive sign? could they still change their minds even though the BT is going through?0 -

Yes it is positive.
You mention in your original post about the default and ccj which will drop off soon. Fact is they were such a long time ago
making them pretty irrelevant now. Depending on the very strict criteria for certain cards where a perfect credit history is absolute, then a rejection would most likely apply in your case.
Barclaycard as others have said are more lenient, so chin up and don't fret.;)You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)0 -
Thanks wiseshark !! :-)0

Just been accepted for the platinum card with a whopping £5300 limit. I only had £250 to transfer from my vanquis card. Can't believe it as I have a default with 6 months left before dropping off and a ccj dropping off start of November that was settled in December 2007.
Please tell me they won't change their mind???
It said you will have your card in 5 days and the balance transfer is already going through.
This is my first prime card after having a vanquis and cap one for last 8 months.
I have access to my online account already too., and a by for 24 months.
Feel excited but know that some folks have had acceptance to be declined later?!
I have read on this site people get accepted for a BC and receive their card only to find it has been cancelled.0 -
Just got an email stating my application was successful and confirming my credit limit etc. card will be with me within 5 days....
Fingers crossed xxx0 -
Just called them as I was getting itchy about this accepted/declined business and they confirmed I was accepted and that my balance transfer was processed today. I made her confirm to me that it was fully accepted and there are no issues or other checks needed etc.
She said the card would be with me before Friday.
Feeling more hopeful now :-)0 -
Happy days Usa2012.
I too am trying to build some kind of credit history, have 3 CC's and a mobile phone contract. Oldest credit card is Vanquis and its 10 months old at the end of September, the other 2 are Aqua and Capital one. All positive green ticks on my file, I cant wait to be accepted for a mainstream card. Aqua arent too bad 34.9% APR which drops 5% every year for 3 years so happy with that.
Anyone know (roughly) how long it would take before I would be accepted for a mainstream?

If it helps, I got my vanquis and cap one earlier this year and paid off in full each month. Had mobiles for last 4 years with orange. My limits were increased quite quickly on both, from £500-£1000 on vanquis, and £200-£450 on cap one.
I used the barclaycard pre check application and it said 80%, very good chance. I just went for it and I'm successful. I checked my credit report first to ensure everything was up to date and previous searches had dropped off xxx0 -
Many Thanks for your advice Usa2012. I'll give my cards another few months and then do the pre-application checker as you did and see what happens.
Thanks again
