Just been accepted for the platinum card with a whopping £5300 limit. I only had £250 to transfer from my vanquis card. Can't believe it as I have a default with 6 months left before dropping off and a ccj dropping off start of November that was settled in December 2007.
Please tell me they won't change their mind???
It said you will have your card in 5 days and the balance transfer is already going through.
This is my first prime card after having a vanquis and cap one for last 8 months.
I have access to my online account already too., and a by for 24 months.
Feel excited but know that some folks have had acceptance to be declined later?!

P.s. not received email confirmation yet!! Do they do this or just send card out?0

If it's said you have been accepted, you will get a confirmation email within 5 days, followed by the card within 10 days.
Don't worry, i've had a friend go through a similar thing. Barclays are obviously doing their level best to reduce the capital-asset ratio for lending.0 -
So, the card won't be here within 5 then? Lol
I've heard that they tell porkies sometimes. I used the pre checker and it said very good chance, but I know by others experience it's not too accurate. Then I thought, !!!!!! it ill try anyway.
Took about 3 mins processing everything in stages and then told me I was accepted and would have the card within 5 days. I was then asked to set up my online account to view credit limit and it stated that my balance transfer was already in progress.
Just hope it all true and they don't change their minds lol0 -
They approved me for the cashback card with only 18 months of proper credit history. No adverse, just limited history. I received the card in three days! Most other providers that offer cashback still don't seem too keen though according to eligibility checkers and my own findings, so barclays might be more lenient.
It's a lovely looking card too with its plain silver logo.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
Thanks maestro.
Going to be a good emergency card to fall back on rather than the £1000 vanquis limit I have, hopefully a better apr too. The card stated 18.9 apr but I know thus depends on personal circumstance. Just have to wait and see xxx0 -
Don't get your hopes up until your balance has been processed as BC are the Magician Elite of accepting then declining applications after they do final checks.
Many people in your shoes wrote the same posts as you only to post a week later with a decline letter along with their card & pin.0 -
Thanks maestro.

well done - I got 19.9 but if you pay in full it doesn't matter. Reap the cashback as best you can, use it for everything you would normally use cash for.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
:-(
That's what I was dreading !!! It went through a few checks as it was processing and the 'final ' check took a short while. Would it still process a balance transfer if it would ultimately decline me? Already deducted off my balance including transfer fee. , confused a little now.0 -

Sure it was 0% on purchases for 6 months too. Will have to wait and see, as I'm still slightly nervous if it will arrive or not after reading about other forum users. Fingers and toes crossed for next week I suppose, lol.
It does state last4 numbers of card already on my account page.

I think Barclaycard are pretty lenient, on their credit scoring, so your chances shouldn't be that bad. Does it say your limit? Is it reasonable?
Why not give them a call (Freephone:0800 731 0200 ) and ask them to check? It won't hurt your file if you do.
On the other hand, I have heard that people get the card and PIN and then get a decline letter, but I do think that's rare - so I wouldn't worry, too much.
Good Luck and tell us how it goes :jThank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0
