Some of you might have seen me mention previously (on other boards) that I was having a problem accessing Iceland's website on IE (it doesn't work on Firefox  ) and I was getting a blank white page with the message Access Denied in the top left corner.
I just assumed it was a fault at their end and didn't look into it any further, but yesterday I got so fed up of MSE pages hanging and timing out that I decided to "view as IE page" to see if that was any better and I got the same Access Denied message again
Tried to access several sites just to test it and get the same message on all of them so obviously I have a problem somewhere with IE.
I don't suppose any of you have any ideas on what might be causing it do you? It's not vital I fix it as I rarely, if ever, use IE these days but it just bugs me when something doesn't work properly and I don't know why
I've got all the usual protection installed and run adware/malware progs etc regularly. The only odd thing I've come across is whenever I set the page to about:blank it spits it's dummy out and MS Antispy tells me I have a browser hijacker and resets it back to res://mshtml.dll/blank.htm

Ok, that's sorted out the about:blank problem but I still can't access any websites with it ... current message is:
Forbidden
You were denied access because:
Access denied by access control list.
I've checked the security and privacy settings and nothing has been changed in there from what it's always been set at, and the content advisor feature isn't enabled on this machine, so I haven't a clue what the problem is"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Just a guess but have you rebooted since sorting out aboutblank?
Also it says to run the aboutbuster again - did you do it twice?Torgwen.....................

just curious, have you got a firewall with "internet security" or something like that? it could be your firewall blocking the pages...if i were you i would turn the firewall off for like 5 secs try to load page then switch f/wall back on...if the page succesfully loads then you have determined that it is a firewall issue and need to look into that, otherwise it can be eliminated from the problem list0

Did it 3 times as the first time I forgot to update it the first time
That part's sorted now anyway and I think this is a different problem entirely. I'll try the firewall option that Neil suggested later and see what happens. I don't really need IE anyway (although it might be useful to try for MSE cos this is driving me bonkers having so many timeouts and waiting for pages to load  ) but I don't like leaving problems unsolved in case they impact on other programmes.
Forgot to say Neil, yes I have ZA as well as my hardware firewall but I think the XP one is switched off."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

This access list error is normally produced by a misconfigured proxy server (with caching capabilities) somewhere along the lines. Check if IE is accessing the Internet directly, or some sort of a proxying is on. You said you had a problem with browser hijack, this could be one of the side effects. Also, delete temporary internet files before trying again.0
