Quick update : Bathroom de-cobwebbed, shelf and window ledge wiped, tiles scrubbed, bath, sink and toilet scrubbed. Bathroom floor swept, that'll be steam cleaned after I've eaten something, as will the windows. Cat litter trays soaking.
WM on a cleaning wash. I'll wash the bath mat, towels etc. afterwards. I wanted to get some clothes washing done but it's peeing it down and I'm not in the mood to have a house like a Chinese laundry today.
I might make a start on my bedroom this afternoon as it resembles a teenagers room at the moment :o

Laptop battery installed thanks to a surprise visit from two of the film technicians who just happened to pop in to pick up a prop. Excellent.

    I hate batteries.
    Better is good enough.
  • I'm in this week, managed to get the flat in a semi decent state last week so it's a good starting place. Had a weekend away and got back v late last night so got some unpacking and laundry to do, kitchen is fairly clean but I'll do the tasks for today anyway. List is:

    Kitchen jobs
Make big pot of soup (bf had a bowl of butternut squash soup at the weekend and declared it the best ever, so I'll make a wee pot of that too with the squash in the cupboard)
Unpack and put away bags from weekend
    Laundry
Make shopping list (have run down go-offables to nearly nought, still a bit in the freezer I can hopefully eek out for the next few days but will have to stop off for some onions at least on the way home)
    Call home then early night.

Can't believe how many preggie ladies are on here doing their housework, I've got no excuse for not keeping up!

Trip to the dentist decluttered and another appointment for Wednesday made :( Told I need to go back in 6 months to have my teeth cleaned again so I've written that in my planner for the 24th Feb ;) I've also had 2 fillings done so can't eat for another half hour.

Going to attempt to clear some of the stuff out from under the stairs while I wait for my lunch to heat up. I'll start the list later when DD is home and wanting this laptop for her homework ;)
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Hi all, back again after fantastic holiday. I gave myself the latter half of last week to wade through all the washing and get the house de-cobwebbed after seemingly all the arachnids in the area have woven new webs while I was away. Still working on the house cleaning.

BUT today is the first day of my 'new working life' as those who haven't been bored by my rantings and deleted me will know, I left my job in July and am now freelance. I will try to incorporate domestic flying in between, but this week my additional tasks are:
    - organise home office fit for use. This involves emptying about 7 bags of books and papers which for 10 years have lived at the college where I worked, and finding new homes for it all.
    - start making contacts for work
    - set up good filing systems for finance and other paper stuff

I'm excited and nervous at the same time, as any work I've done "from home" before has been either occasional private work, or stuff I've brought home from my previous job.

Had a sad start to the day; I've read before about birds getting feet caught in the net-encased fat balls, but never seen it. Until this morning. I found a poor little baby blue tit which had caught a claw. I rushed out with scissors and managed to free it, but it hopped off (literally) into the hedge before I was able to give it any first aid. It is raining so the poor thing probably won't survive as it was all wet. I felt so bad. I've already snipped all fat balls out of the netting and put them in another container.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Never underestimate the power of nesting :D My house was never cleaner than when I was expecting my brood.

I sat down -- fatal mistake. Looks like we're all off to Sainsbobs at 3.45 then :p
  • Hi all

I'm in again. Thanks to Dusty and Natty for running the thread x

It's been a busy weekend here. Saturday dancing class is back so I had to run about trying to remember where I had put DDs swords and leotards for that class. They were in a safe place ;)
OH has been painting. Ceiling in LR and bathroom done. Walls in the LR need another coat. OH is doing it when he gets in from work. He's made me promise not to choose a dark paint again. I have said I won't unless I change my mind at some point ;) then it's just the glossing and new flooring for both rooms.

So far today I have started the kitchen opened THAT cupboard to put something past and couldn't so bottom cupboards have been emptied cleaned, sorted and flung as necessary!
Off to finish the kitchen and run a Hoover round the place then I'll get the dinner on
    I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged

    Hi everyone,

Last week was a complete write off, my little bundle arrived on Tuesday with a dramatic entrance. Didn't think she could top my first DD of 4 hours unplanned home birth, but she did with an unplanned csection.
As I can't lift anything for a good while and my swollen feet are acting as my guide I will do some low level flying this week. More water skimming.

Hugs to those that need them, good luck Littleskintdragon and positive energy to all.

    Monday - Kitchen
    15 Minutes..

Wipe out the fridge, note what needs using up or restocking
    30 minutes to spare..
    Sweep and mop the floor
Wash out the washing machine drawer
    Got an hour...
Wipe the surfaces, removing things which don't belong here as you go
Are the spiders coming in from the cold, go on a cobweb hunt

    Extra challenge:
Choose your messiest drawer and give it a good tidy, wipe out if you have the time
Renew library books, fill in that form you've been meaning too, check for birthdays in the next few weeks.
