^^^ Mmmn, I do like the wedge look too. I'd love to get my hands on old Subaru XT.Strider590 wrote: »Tried here? :rotfl:
Oh god. I'd probably unironically buy a few things from there.
Unfortunately the only stuff in the "car" category is stick on tat, and that's one thing I refuse to do.0 -

Surely if you yearn for something wedge shaped a TR7 fits the bill perfectly, A near perfect wedge of cheese with wheels and an engine.
Held together with a neverending supply of rust.

I am well aware of the TR7 and it's, ahh... weight reduction. This is why I wanted the Subaru.0

But most of the time it's done purely for looks.
Provided the road is smooth.
back in the real world: Tramlining under braking, bouncing off line mid bend if the smallest ripple is present, aquaplaning.
I think the word they use is stanced.
Beware the 'stretch' which is too narrow tyres forced on wide alloys.
"Barryboys" is the best place to go if you want to be horrified. :eek:0 -
Few different terms to be aware of when lowering.
Slammed, for when people want to get the car as low as possible. Will handle like crap and usually not very comfortable but some people enjoy the look.
Stanced is usually the above, but with some camber added to the wheels as well.
And then just general lowering. If done right with upgraded dampers and the camber / allignment adjusted at the same time will improve the handling of the car but might be a bit stiffer than OEM dampers.
I'm in my 30's now though and no sign of my "growing up" yet.
I still mod my cars, although very minor cosmetic changes. Just seems as when i fit into this "grown up" category it means i need to become boring

I have a totally rust free TR7. Mind you, it's a drophead so not quite so wedgie. An Austin Princess might be a better choice.0 -
Ahh a Princess. But the front is flat. Like someone nicked a slice of the cheese.
I always thought of myself as an Austin Maxi type of person.

Allegro here, with its stylish modern lines, rapid performance, economy and comfort.
In beige
With brown upholstery
And an 8-track stereo player.
Trouble is (a) I was too young to drive at the time and (b) I would have had to choose between that or a shiney new Betamax recorder.0 -

I debadged mine to make it look more like a sleeper. Although it needs lowering at some point as it's riding 240 ponies on a bag of jelly.0 -
What ever tickles your pickle. People are free to spend there money as they like as long as there road worthy.
Its bit like asking why train spoters do what they do. Or people who fish, or people who keep fish, paint do pottery ect. Because they enjoy it and so do some other people might not be your cup of tea who hay ho. I'm sure you'll find stuff interesting that others will find boring.0
